Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress
According to the developers, she is supposed to be an AP magic damage-based top laner and has her kit centered around needles, which is very fitting for a Seamstress. Gwen clearly showcases her passion for knitting in the teaser and she crafted a bear that looks similar to Tibbers, Annie’s companion.
Apart from her needles, Gwen was also seen with Viego, the Ruined King. Her relationship with Viego was already confirmed with the lore reveal, but there is a slight problem. According to the lore, Isolde was the Seamstress to whom Viego fell in love. But with Gwen’s introduction, she might be another form of her or simply a new character in the universe connected to Isolde. This issue left many players in confusion, thinking it should be Isolde who should have been released instead of her.
Gameplay-wise, she looks unique as she has an AOE ability similar to Trundle’s E. Some of her abilities leave marks on the enemies suggesting a similar effect to Kalista’s auto attacks in the game. Moreover, in the brief gameplay, Gwen dodged Maokai’s ultimate ability and suggests she might have invulnerability in her kit. This ability would be good for a top laner as it provides a similar effect to Fiora’s E parry effect and players could use it to counter champions with high CC in their kit.
The Gameplay trailer didn’t see an ultimate ability; therefore, the crafted bear showcased in the teaser could play a huge part in her kit. All over, she looks like a great champion with very original ability and she should be a great addition to the game.
