ESPN is reporting that Kim “Khan” Dong-ha is expected to sign for newly-crowned world champions FunPlus Pheonix.
After receiving interest from teams in North America, South Korea and China, the top laner is set to join the world champions this month.
Khan spent 2019 with SK Telecom T1, with the team falling to G2 Esports in the semi-final. It’s not yet known of Khan will join as the team's new starter, though current starter and fellow South Korean Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem is out of contract, so Khan is likely to be a direct replacement.
Khan spent 2017–2018 before signing for SKT at Chinese sides Longzhu Gaming and Kingzone DragonX, so Khan has a knowledge of the league and likely has no issues with communication. If the deal is confirmed he’ll join fellow South Korean Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang.
The FunPlus Pheonix roster for 2020 is expected to be:
Top – Khan
Jungler – Tian
Mid – DoinB
ADC – Lwx
Support – Crisp
FPX will now look to push for the perfect run in 2020, something many teams have tried but none has ever achieved. G2 is the most recent team to attempt the run after winning both LEC splits and MSI in 2019.
