League of Legends: Cloud9 Trade Goldenglue to Golden Guardians for Palafox

Among the many League of Legends roster changes announced tonight, Cloud9 and the Golden Guardians made a swap rather early on. This swap was between Cloud9's former Academy mid laner Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer and Golden Guardians' former Academy mid laner Cristian “Palafox” Palafox.

Gilmer has proved himself on the LCS stage and is confirmed to be on the starting LCS roster for the Golden Guardians. He has performed in high-pressure situations throughout his time on Cloud9 and this will finally be his big chance to show he's a top tier mid laner.

The Golden Guardians have suffered from mediocrity since their introduction into the LCS. This may be their chance to grab and foster a native NA talent to help them find success. Interestingly, it will mean that Henrik “Froggen” Hansen will be moving to a new team.

Meanwhile, Palafox is a much lesser-known name. He's exclusively played in the Academy league but has had mixed results. Before the 2019 Summer Split, he was on unsuccessful rosters, but in the Summer Split he managed to make it all the way to the Academy Finals and take second place overall. He's not expected to play on the main LCS roster for a while, but Cloud9 is known for fielding rookies and Academy players on the LCS stage. Its quite likely fans will see him at some point.
