How to Win Games With Bastion in Overwatch 2 Season 2

People who play Overwatch 2 gained access to Season 2 a couple of weeks ago. Aside from the many changes related to the new skins, the new map, and Ramattra, the game also gave us access to some hero changes. Despite the fact that Bastion was not one of the heroes who experienced different changes, there have been some adjustments to his play style.

Speaking of Bastion, he was among the few heroes from Overwatch that received a complete rework. The new game gave him new abilities and made the hero feel a lot more mobile than before. However, it seems like this wasn’t enough to make him stand out because he wasn’t that popular in Season 1.

Truth be told, Bastion is not that big in Season 2 either, but the hero definitely has some potential, especially if you know how to use it. With that said, here are a few things you can do if you want to win your games with Bastion in Overwatch 2 Season 2. Don’t forget to check our complete Bastion hero guide for Overwatch if you want to learn more about the hero.

Positioning is more important than ever

One of the things that differentiate Overwatch 2 players from one another is their positioning. Knowing where to stay with a specific hero can make a significant difference, especially if you want to get better at the game. This definitely applies to Bastion because he is one of the DPS heroes with the largest hitbox in Overwatch 2.

Season 2 is a patch where heroes like Ramattra and Doomfist are prevalent. They are popular for being more aggressive than other tanks and can do a lot of damage. That said, they are also susceptible to attacks, meaning that you can punish them for being over-aggressive. However, the only way to do that is by having a good position and staying alive for as long as possible.

Ideally, you must use the map to your advantage and play near or behind a cover when possible. Bastion is not a hero who should stay in the open because he can die fast, even when in his Configuration: Assault. Although he has to try and get the most out of it, it doesn’t mean the hero should tank all of the incoming damage. On the contrary, you need to keep an eye on your support and play alongside them.

Flanking is an option

When you think of Bastion and Overwatch 2, you don’t really think of flanking. In fact, most people avoid doing this because this is not the best hero for the job. He is slow and usually shines when he is near his team. However, there are some exceptions, and Season 2 allows him to take advantage of them.

The fact that aggressive and mobile tanks are the hottest options right now means that the rest of their team is often vulnerable because they do not have any shields. This is good news for Bastion because he is one of the Overwatch 2 DPS heroes with the highest bursts in the game. So, once you learn how to flank with him, which will take some time, you can make your enemies’ life a living hell.

Flanking with Bastion is often more complicated than it seems. The goal is to make sure that the enemies are not aware of your positioning. By doing this, you will surprise them with your shots and land at least one or even more kills.

Securing a good position to flank is not that easy with Bastion because he is not mobile. Thankfully, his grenade allows him to reach places that were previously not available, so you should take advantage of it. Keep in mind that most enemies won’t contest your position in a direct clash because your damage output will be enough to bring them down.

Keep an eye on certain heroes’ cooldowns

Despite the nerfs to heroes like Sojourn, she continues to be one of the hottest options in the meta. The same applies to Doomfirst and Lucio, which is one of the preferred Overwatch 2 healers right now.

Even though these heroes are completely different, they have some similarities, such as the fact that they rely on big cooldowns for their survival. For example, Sojourns has a slide that lets her jump in and out of action. Even though people should be careful when using it, most players pay little attention, which is why you need to take advantage of it.

Keeping track of certain cooldowns is incredibly important, no matter the hero you play with. That said, people who play with Bastion must be even more careful because they can punish everyone immediately. For example, seeing Lucio without his boost will allow you to kill him in no time unless he uses his ult.

Conclusion

To sum up, Bastion is definitely a solid option in Season 2 of Overwatch 2, especially when you notice that heroes such as Torb and Hanzo are not popular right now. Although Bastion can work against pretty much anything, he is not strong versus long-range heroes like those below.

Sadly, Widowmaker and Ashe are common meta picks, so you must be careful when playing against them. That said, once you learn how to position yourself and what to focus on, you should be able to carry your team.
