This guide delves into how to get The Catch, the free-to-play 4-star weapon, in Genshin Impact for your polearm-wielding characters
With the rerun banner of Raiden Shogun dropping very soon in the second half of the 4.3 update, The Catch is back in demand. The Catch, a free 4-star polearm that arrived in version 2.1, is a treasure for free-to-play travelers who are looking to make their characters very strong without spending any money.
Even though you can obtain The Catch without swiping the card, it requires quite a grind in the game. In this article, you will find everything you need to know about how to get the weapon, as well as why and how you should be using it.

How To Get The Catch
In order to obtain The Catch, you must first unlock the fishing ability by completing the Exploding Population quest from Monstadt’s Nantuck. This allows you to fish in various locations all over Tevyat and use those fish to buy different items from the Fishing Associations. One such item is The Catch, which can be bought from Kujirai Momiji, who is affiliated with the Inazuma Fishing Association.
You first need to purchase The Catch and then the Ako’s Sake Vessels to refine the weapon further. To do so, you will require a total of 18 Raimei Angelfish, 20 Golden Koi, 20 Rusty Koi, 40 Pufferfish, and 40 Bitter Pufferfish. While this might seem like a lot of fish, it is definitely a lot! Keeping their respawn time in mind, it may take up to 2 weeks to collect them all. Here’s a pro tip: go to your friends’ world and raid their fish instead! The good thing is that you don’t require much for R1 Catch, so just buy the weapon first, and you can eventually progress towards R5 at your own pace.

Raimei Angelfish can only be fished in Inazuma near Tatarasuna from 18:00 to 6:00 in the game. The area has a bunch of enemies which can freeze and electrocute you. Therefore, go with a party consisting of good characters who can tackle these monsters. False Warm Bait has to be used to attract the fish, which requires 1 Slime Condensate and 1 Berry for 10 Pieces. You can get the recipe from the Monstadt Fishing Association.

You can find the Golden Koi and Rusty Koi anytime around Wangshuu Inn, Stormbearer Mountains, Cider Lake, Luhua Pool, and Koseki Village. You need 1 Sakura Bloom and 1 Horsetail to craft the Fake Fly Bait, which is suitable for both Golden Koi and Rusty Koi. The recipe can be purchased from the Monstadt Fishing Association.

These two fishes are required to further refine The Catch. So, you can take your time with it, but they are pretty easy to spot and fish. They are found anytime at Cider Lake, Dawn Winery, Liyue, and Ritou and are attracted by the same bait as Koi which is the Fake Fly Bait.
Why Is The Catch Good
A good question that comes to mind is if The Catch is worth all that hassle and the answer is a big fat yes, especially if you are an FTP or a Goldfish who wants to desperately save those precious primogems. If you can manage to get your Catch to R5, it can give strong competition to even 5-Star Polearms and is considered to be in the SS tier for sub-dps and support by many veteran players. It is so good that even whales tend to opt for it!
The Catch, at its maximum level of 90 and Refinement Rank 5, has a Base ATK of 510 and an Energy Recharge of 45.9%. Its passive named Shanty increases elemental burst damage by 32% and elemental burst CRIT rate by 12%. This means that it provides a significant amount of ER, which is essential for quickly recharging one's burst, and also giving the burst a huge damage bonus and increased chances to land a critical hit. As a result, The Catch is an excellent choice for characters who rely heavily on Energy Recharge and deal a majority of their damage through their ultimate, especially in the Spiral Abyss.
To level up your Catch to 90, you need a total of 150,000 Mora, 3 Mask of the Wicked Lieutenant, 9 Mask of the Tiger's Bite, 9 Mask of the One-Horned, 4 Mask of the Kijin, 15 Chaos Gear, 18 Chaos Axis, 27 Chaos Oculus, 10 Spectral Husk, 15 Spectral Heart, and 18 Spectral Nucleus. The weapon ascension material can be farmed on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from the Court of Flowing Sand in Inazuma.
Who Can Use The Catch
With Chevreuse’s release, there will be a total of 13 polearm-wielding characters in the Genshin Character pool. Not every one of them can utilize the Catch well, so you need to know who to put it on. As you may already know, The Catch is considered one of the best for Raiden Shogun, if you do not have her signature weapon, “Engulfing Lightning”. This is because the Electro Archon scales off ER, and most of her damage stems from her ultimate. So, if you have her, or you are planning to pull for her, make sure to stick the Catch on her.
Catch can be utilized brilliantly by many characters but sadly, you can only have one of it. If you aren’t using it on Raiden, other characters include Zhongli, Thoma, Rosaria, and Xiangling. Xiangling becomes even more of a beast than she already is when equipped with The Catch with her Pyranado causing absolute havoc with the additional damage from the passive.
