We spoke to Ginty ahead of his fight with JMX this Saturday.
This Saturday, October 15th, the biggest names in crossover influencer boxing come to Sheffield, England. Ginty is taking on JMX, and while on paper this may seem like a mismatch, Ginty is confident he has the ability to take him on, and this won't be a walkover. We spoke to him at today's Press Conference ahead of his bout on Saturday.
This fight has come out of nowhere. How have you prepared, given such short notice?
Ginty: It’s very tough and very intense. Before getting the phone call, I was eating Mcdonald's, clubbing, and drinking. Literally getting Mcdonald's every day. Then I got the phone call, trained that evening and every single day. Cutting the diet, eating chicken and veg, cutting the weight and taking it seriously.
How did that phone call come about? Was it random or had you already shown your intention to fight again?
Ginty: Halal Ham knew I boxed, JMX needed an opponent as he pulled out, so he wouldn’t be able to fight on the card. He gave me this opportunity, I thought about it and my coach watched JMX’s footage and said ‘you can win’, so I spoke to Mams and we made it happen.
What does it feel like to be on this card, on DAZN in a sold-out arena?
Ginty: Crazy. It’s madness.
What's your prediction for Saturday night? Is there anything you’re specifically looking to do to counter JMX?
Ginty: I’m not going to give too much away, but I’m going to surprise a lot of people. It’s not going to be easy for him, he’s going to realize I’ve got a chin and I’m going to aim to knock him out.
