G2 Esports vs MAD Lions will decide which team will be the first to reach this year’s Grand Finals.
While Fnatic and Team BDS will clash for the last LEC spot in the 2023 Worlds Main Event, the two remaining Upper Bracket team’s have a similarly important match to play: MAD Lions and G2 Esports will fight against each other to qualify for the 2023 LEC Grand Final, the last match of this year LEC played in Montpellier. The stakes are high, but only one of them can make it to the Final first!
G2 Esports vs MAD Lions Preview
G2 Esports
G2 Esports are the ultimate predators this year. They won the Winter and Summer LEC Splits, played in this year’s MSI, and finished in the top 6. They are also the most adaptable team in the LEC with an incredible number of strategies, as well as the adaptability that other teams could only wish for.
In their first match, they defeated Team BDS with ease, even though they sprinkled in a signature G2 Esports loss against the Swiss team. However, they had three extremely dominant victories against Jus “Crownie” Marusic and his teammates, with Hans sama going 15/3/10 in Game 4.
G2 Esports Roster
Sergen “BrokenBlade” Celik
Martin “Yike” Sundelin
Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther
Steven “Hans sama” Liv
Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle
MAD Lions
MAD Lions are no slouches either, as they won the Spring Split of the LEC – the split where G2 only made it to the top 4. The Lions had a weak showing in the Summer Split, barely getting to Groups, leaving the competition very early for a former Champion.
But in the few weeks after the Summer Split, they put in some work, and what came back from their “vacation” was a completely different beast than what we saw before. MAD Lions beat Excel Esports to a pulp, as Elyoya and co. didn’t even give the Brits room to breathe with that 3-0 victory.

Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon
Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla
Yasin “Nisqy” Dincer
Matyás “Carzzy” Orság

G2 Esports vs MAD Lions Predictions
While G2 Esports should be the better team on paper, MAD Lions is the squad that could give them a run for their money. Other than the LEC Winter Playoff Finals, MAD Lions always put up a good fight against Caps and his teammates, even denying them their chance to play in the Spring Finals and a perfect weekend back at the first round of the Summer Split. While G2 has much better numbers with a 76% First Tower and 52% First Blood rate, MAD Lions know how to teamfight – the question is, can they get there?
