After beating Hugo in Final Fantasy 16's main quest “Into the Darkness,” players will run into a boss named Undertaker. He is the first of the two bosses who must be eliminated in order to complete this mission. In order to win this battle and advance the plot, we once again encourage you to use an effective plan. We have chosen to compile all the helpful advice and techniques for beating Undertaker in one place in one article.
Location, rewards, and abilities
Undertaker is a boss that players must defeat in the “Into the Darkness” main quest, which takes place in the Drake's Fang area of the Dhalmekian Republic, as was already described at the beginning of this article. Those players who are successful in taking down this tough monster will receive rewards that are essential for progressing further in the game. In addition to goods like Sharp Fang, The Favor of Lightning, and Magicked Ash, these awards include 350 XP, 170 AP, and 3000 Gil.
The fact that this boss may be easier to defeat respect from the other ones in the game, however, means that he should not be treated lightly. Our recommendation is to adopt a strategy appropriate for this kind of dispute as a result. As always, we also want to remind you that Undertaker has a variety of unique abilities at his disposal that he can employ in battle to disadvantage his adversaries. Spirit Within and Exhume are a couple of these abilities.
How to defeat Undertaker
Due to his low HP and defense, the Undertaker is a rather simple boss to defeat. By repeatedly using your skills, you should be able to weaken and stun him. He also has regular movements and attack patterns, allowing you to time a precise dodge anytime he swings at you. Additionally, you can combine skills by switching between Eikons to form potent combinations that will increase your ability to deal damage. He will temporarily become slightly staggered for a few seconds as soon as your attack reduces his Will Gauge to 50%. Change to Garuda's powers and use Deadly Embrace to further knock it down so you have more time to land your attacks.
The boss Undertaker can perform different types of attacks to inflict damage on his opponents. Also, keep in mind that he has the ability to leap into the air and slam into the ground, sending a wave of blue energy that, if it hits you, will inflict damage. Simply hit the Jump button to get away from it, and then get ready to press the Dodge button when the Undertaker comes charging at you.
Undertaker's abilities
Undertaker has different abilities he can use during the fight. He will slowly rotate himself around the arena and release a blue energy beam during the Spirits Within attack. You can either sprint counterclockwise to avoid being caught in it, or you can precisely dodge through it without taking any damage if you time it right. Alternatively, you can utilize Phoenix Shift to flee and gain some breathing room after his beam ability expires in order to avoid being killed by one of his subsequent assaults.
Finally, keep an eye out for the Exhume ability. During Exhume, the Undertaker will extend his arms and stomp the ground, briefly knocking Clive out of his feet. Following this, energy particles will start to erupt from the ground. Keep an eye out for any developing blue auras in the region and stay away from them because they will soon blow up. Following these strategies will help you face this boss and defeat it in order to go ahead with Final Fantasy 16's story.
