After conquering Behemoth, players in Final Fantasy 16 will have to take on Ultima in the major quest “Streets of Madness”. This is the second boss players will have to face in this quest. As per usual, we urge you to employ a highly particular and successful plan of action to win this conflict. For this reason, we made the decision to write this article and provide you with helpful advice on how to defeat Ultima.
Location, rewards, and abilities
Ultima can be found in the main quest “Streets of Madness,” as we already said in the opening of this article. Players will receive prizes for their efforts once they have vanquished this boss. The items Sharp Fang, Steelsilk, Magicked Ash, and The Pull of Darkness are also among the awards, along with 15000 XP, 650 AP, and 7000 Gil.
However, you must take Ultima very seriously because he might put you in terrible trouble, as we have already advised you for the other bosses. Because of this, the most crucial action is to use the proper approach to get rid of the boss and win this conflict. Additionally, this boss has unique fighting skills, just like practically all of the other bosses in the game. These abilities include Ricochet, Event Horizon, Frostbolt, Eternal Darkness, Mark of the Storm, Graviga, Neutron Flare, and Mark of the Storm.
How to defeat Ultima
You must be very careful since Ultima will start the battle by using her skills. She can also make simple sword strokes that leave behind enormous trails of purple magic. She will draw closer to you with each strike, necessitating dodges unless you happen to be in an especially advantageous position. Make sure to be ready to dodge twice in succession because there will be two consecutive slashes.
Since this battle will be characterized mostly by the use of skills, this is a very important battle and certainly not to be underestimated. Keep in mind that Ultima has a huge arsenal of special abilities at her disposal that she can use, and she will use them all throughout the various stages of the fight. The general strategy that we invite you to follow is to always be very careful and quick to dodge her attacks, and then wait for the right moment and counterattack.
Ultima's abilities
Ultima, as we already said, will mostly use her abilities in order to deal damage to her opponents. One of these abilities is the Neutron Flame. It's exceedingly challenging to survive a Neutron Flare attack, especially as the conflict goes on. This strike moves three times, with each movement offering a unique strategy to avoid it. You can get into a position where you are high enough in the air to evade the convergent rays by using Garuda's Deadly Embrace.
Additionally, it is important to remember that Ultima has the ability to combine Neutron Flare with his other strikes, such as Event Horizon and Ricochet, in the closing stages of the battle. When Ultima starts to exert more pressure, remember that you may still employ Deadly Embrace in midair in addition to the standard dodge to keep yourself airborne. You can therefore combine these two abilities.
If you haven't yet mastered the timing of the blows, the long flaming sword combo known as Deliverance may be difficult to avoid. Since the third swing is a little slower than the previous two, you can try parrying it to try and prevent further damage. Keep in mind that Heatwave has the ability to neutralize projectile strikes from Ultima, including his icy javelins, Graviga, and Ricochet. You can destroy the projectile and launch a potent counterattack by using this ability if you have it available.
Ultima will begin employing Eternal Darkness, which covers the entire arena when she has 75% health remaining. In order to avoid the rest of the assault's effects, you must dodge to where a beam was just before it vanished because you cannot remain in the same place during the attack. Get additional attacks in before Eternal Darkness comes to a conclusion by doing this on the main beam.
As soon as Frostbolt is over, don't rush in. Ultima typically dashes in with his fiery sword right after this attack. During and following Frostbolt, be vigilant. Ultima will fire a quick-moving flame bullet that will enlarge when it reaches your position if he unexpectedly acquires energy. Be sure to dodge away from this bullet, especially if you're fighting.
