League of Legends: Excel Esports Sign Deadly

Excel Esports has signed a UK scene veteran.

Twenty-year-old Matthew “Deadly” Smith was signed after he spent two years in Spain playing for Vodafone Giants. Deadly last played in the UK under MnM Gaming back in 2017.

During his time in League of Legends, he’s managed two first-place split finishes, both coming with Vodafone Giants in 2019. He also placed first in the “Torneo Benefico Ibai 2018.”

Deadly joins an Excel Esports side looking to make gains in 2020 in the Academy roster while also challenging for the 2020 UKLC title.

With Deadly on board, Excel UK side is now just lacking a mid laner after current Excel UK mid stated that he was “allowed to explore his options.” Due to the “three from region” rule likely to be enforced in the UKLC, Special will most likely be the player who gets cut.

The Excel UK roster for 2020 as its stands is:

Top – Send0o

Jungle – Taxer

Mid – ?

ADC – Deadly

Support – KaSing

It’s been a busy summer for Excel with a number of major changes to its LEC roster with Patrick and Tore making up the team’s new bot lane.

Excel Esports also announced a preseason cup presented by its partner Neosurf which takes place at the home of Excel Esports and English Rugby Twickenham. Excel also announced a host of talent for the event including Frankie Ward, Aaron “Medic” Chamberlain, Dan “Foxdrop” Wyatt and Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere.
