Earlier today, the Evil Geniuses announced they will return to the LCS. Though it's been five years since fans have seen the Evil Genius name in the LoL scene, they have a history in the European and North American leagues.
Previously, a deal had been reportedly reached between Echo Fox and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. This ended up falling through. As such, the fate of this final LCS spot was unknown, until today. Nicole Lapointe Jameson, CEO of Evil Geniuses, said that with this spot will come an expansion of their organization:
“We’ve had nothing but a good experience working with Riot, and we’ll be expanding our operations to Los Angeles to accommodate the needs of the new roster. We’re looking forward to the new members of the EG cabal that will make all this possible.”
In their official announcement, the Evil Geniuses reported that they'll be building a roster from the ground up. No names have been revealed yet, but with the offseason slowly approaching, there will be more information soon.
The Evil Geniuses are clearly eager to make their name known in all of esports. This isn't the first big move the organization has made today, as they've re-entered the CS:GO scene too. They weren't the most successful team. But with a background in LoL already, the Evil Geniuses may just be able to make some waves in the LCS next year.
