DTG Spoke to ESTNN ahead of Misfits & DAZN: X Series 002 this weekend
DTG takes on Halal Ham in his bout this Saturday, October 15 in the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 002 card. During the press conference, DTG insisted that he is an artist, not a boxer, but he elaborated more on this during our interview.
You’re taking on Halal Ham this weekend. Do you think he’s taking this fight as seriously as you are?
DTG: I don't know. I’m very confused. I’m in between, it might be an act and he's just trying to throw me off, I'm not sure. But whatever he’s doing, I’m not paying attention to it. I’m just waiting for fight night, I can't wait to get in the ring and put on a good performance. He’s experienced, he’s got two fights under his belt. He won the first one, and lost the second to the person who’s now training him, Salt Papi who is very much rated in this influencer boxing scene. But that doesn't phase me, he’s not Mike Tyson at the end of the day and I don't think that's going to allow Ham to take on what I’ve been learning. Even in a short period of time I feel like I’ve learnt a lot and will be able to deal with him.
You said you’re not a boxer, you’re an artist. What’s the camp and training been like for you given you’re new to the sport?
DTG: It’s been good, it's been very good. Five days a week, Monday to Friday, two hours a day. Friday is strictly fitness, I’ve been doing hill sprints, all sorts. First week was a killer, it was absolute hell. But in the second week you start to get used to it, in the third week everything is smooth and we’re in the fourth week now. Not really training as much as we dont want to risk any sort of injury but just some light pads. I have a treadmill in my hotel so I’m able to keep up with fitness.
It’s been good, it's been interesting. Definitely insightful to see what boxing is actually like. This stuff is not easy man.
What’s your prediction for Saturday night, how do you think the fight is going to finish?
DTG: I’m not really sure to be honest, I’m just predicting a win for myself. My trainers believe in me, my team believes in me, I believe in myself. So god willing we’ll get this W. I’m hoping for the first or second round, I don't see why I can't finish it then.
