Dplus KIA vs Team BDS could be the end of the road for Adam and his Garen picks – unles the Swiss squad can step up.
The first week of the 2023 League of Legends World Championship’s Swiss Stage is coming to and end! After finding out that Gen.G and JD Gaming will be the first teams that got into the Knockout Stage, the first two eliminated teams will be revealed on Monday. Team Liquid, GAM Esports, Dplus KIA and Team BDS all sit at the bottom with 0-2 records, but two of them can redeem themselves – by ending the Worlds run for two others. Can BDS do the unthinkable and end Dplus KIA’s career?
Dplus KIA vs Team BDS Preview
Even though Dplus KIA armed themselves with Deft, the 2022 World Championship, increasing the number of Worlds winners on the team to 3, they couldn’t avoid the 0-2 record. The squad came out of left field in the LCK Regional Finals, knocking out Hanwha Life Esports for the last Korean spot at Worlds.
However, they had an underwhelming showing so far. Against G2 Esports, they held out for more than 42 minutes, trying to find something that could help take down the kings of Europe, but Hans sama’s Draven proved too strong. Against KT Rolster, they had a much weaker performance with Deft’s Ziggs not clicking with the rest of the DK teamcomp, which meant that they lost their Friday bout as well. They have one more chance, and Deft did it last year – can he do it again?
Dplus KIA Roster
- Kim “Canna” Chang-dong
- Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu
- Heo “ShowMaker” Su
- Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu
- Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu
Team BDS has already played with the feelings of their fans. They beat Golden Guardians 3-0 in the Worlds Qualifying series, then almost didn’t make it out of their Play-In Groups. They then bounced back, beating PSG Talon 3-2 in the Qualification Match, but they are still here at the 0-2 level of the Swiss Stage.
BDS played their own game against JD Gaming and MAD Lions as well, with Adam picking his Garen and Renekton and nuc having a great performance. Sheo was doing fine against JDG, same with Labrov, but against MAD, they couldn’t really affect the outcome. The only constant is Crownie, who is a shadow of his former self – the one that carried BDS to the Spring Finals.
Team BDS Roster
- Adam “Adam” Maanane
- Théo “Sheo” Boril
- Ilias “nuc” Bizriken
- Jus “Crownie” Marusic
- Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis
Dplus KIA vs Team BDS Predictions
While both teams have struggled, they both have some great chances in their Monday match. If Crownie manages to step up, BDS will have a clear shot at DK, but even without their ADC, they have a strong early and midgame, something that Dplus KIA have lacked so far. Their unique picks can also cause a headache for any team that’s not the best of the best, while DK failed to execute champions such as the Ziggs. DK also has some opportunities – if they can manage to drag out the game a bit. Canyon can make sure of that, but the rest of DK has to do their best not to slow things down for themselves.
