On June 5 Chiefs ESC announced their return to the Call of Duty scene via Twitter. This saw them acquire the previous Mindfreak roster consisting of Damage, Nimble, Zepa, Restalling and Lymax. This team has previously placed 3rd and 2nd in Call of Duty Challengers events within the APAC region.

Nick Bobir (CEO) had this to say on The Chiefs return to Call of Duty:
“Call of Duty has a special place in our heart. For all of our management staff, this franchise is where we were introduced to esports and cut our teeth in the industry. What better way to come back to the game than with our old friends, who have been family to us for years and still driving the scene within the region. We can’t wait to see what they can do with a strong support structure behind them”.
Chiefs will compete in their first event this weekend, the CDC Minnesota Open which will be streamed live on Twitch and Youtube via players themselves. Although it is not clear whether this means Mindfreak will be leaving the Call of Duty scene, they have been a top contender against Renegades all season. Chiefs ESC has not competed in Call of Duty since the Infinite Warfare season. However, they saw the most success in Black Ops 3 where they qualified and finished 25-32nd at CoD Champs.
