Call of Duty Mobile World Championship Tournament Set to Take Place Next Week

Get ready Call of Duty: Mobile players. Your time for glory has come.

In a few days, COD Mobile fans will have the chance to compete in an exclusive world championship. Activision/Blizzard announced this week that an esports tournament will begin next week … with over $1 million in prizes, cash, and more for the taking.

Tournament Basics

You'll need to be ranked veteran or higher in multiplayer to take part in the open online qualifiers, which take place between April 30th and May 24th. If you earn at least 80 points across your first ten ranked games each weekend, you’ll progress to stage two.

To keep things on a level playing field, players won't be able to use any external input devices such as a controller or mouse and keyboard (unless officials grant an exemption) or run the game on a desktop emulator. This is almost exclusively a touchscreen tournament.

Breaking Down The Rules

Here is a message directly from the Call of Duty Mobile site:

How it works:

“For each of the four weekends, once you click “Sign Up” in-game, the tournament will go live and the first ten ranked matches you play will earn you tournament points. Tournament points are based on individual wins and your current rank; the higher your rank the more points you receive for a win. If you reach 80 points within the first ten ranked matches in any weekend you qualify on to Stage 2.

Players must compete on an eligible handset and may not use an external device or attachment of any kind that modifies the game's controls (e.g. Bluetooth controllers, wired controllers, mouse, keyboard, etc.) without the express consent of the Administration. Players may not compete using any desktop emulator. The Administration reserves the right to investigate any Player deemed in violation. Players who are found to be in violation may be disqualified from participating in any future COD tournaments.”

Activision will reveal more details about prize money and the format for the second stage of the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship tournament in the coming weeks. All eligible players will earn in-game rewards for registering and playing each weekend. Call of Duty: Mobile is a free-to-play first-person shooter developed by TiMi Studios and published by Activision for Android and iOS. It was released on October 1, 2019.

Other than that, if you're over 18, you’re good to go. It looks like it’ll be an insane tournament and you can bet our staff will cover it live.
