Blizzard and ESL Partner to Start Warcraft 3 Reforged Esports Circuit with $200k Prize Pool

With the imminent release of Warcraft III Reforged, Blizzard Entertainment and the premier tournament operator ESL have announced a 3-year-long strategic partnership to instantly create an esports scene around the remaster of Warcraft III.
The first season of the ESL Warcraft III Pro Tour will include four top-tier tournaments: three DreamHack events and one ESL tournament. After those four LAN-events, the best players of the Tour will meet in the final battle, the Warcraft III World Championship. Everything will be tied together with the ESL Pro Tour Ranking. Throughout the circuit, more than $200,000 will be offered to compete for.
Here’s how it works visually:
Alongside those big events, weekly ESL Open Cups will be held “for the wider amateur and grassroots community.” In these, everyone can participate and fight for a small prize pool.
