So, it's that time again a new expansion brings with it a new start. Now, as we head to War Within let's take a look at our WoW Tier List.
Before diving in, let’s cover a few things. This early list is based on beta information that updates weekly, often lacking full context. Our goal is to provide a snapshot of the “best” picks for those undecided.
You'll find separate tier lists for Healers and Tanks later in the article; these tend to be more stable. Some class details are also included, though note these were written before War Within and may need to be taken with a grain of salt.
A big disclaimer: this data is from a beta build that changes weekly, and I’m relying primarily on my analysis, supplemented by outside information.
Update for WoW Patch 11.0.5 – With Patch 11.0.5 around the corner, we’ve updated the list to reflect the latest insights. We’ll revisit it after the next hotfixes and class balance changes. For now, we have solid data from the last week to preview near-term shifts.
One standout class is the Augmentation Evoker, likely to stay in S Tier for its exceptional raid value. For the rest, we’ll see how the patch lands, but Blizzard’s approach so far leans positive with mostly buffs.

War Within WoW DPS Tier List- A Closer Look
A closer look at all the classes and how they look in the Beta. We will update this during Beta but will fully update it on full release.
Mage
Mage is good, it's always good. What spec is good, that's harder to say, but like Warlock, Mages are normally safe to play what they want and know they'll be fine. For us, we are going to say Fire is the weakest Mage spec for now.
Evoker
Augmentation might be a “Support” spec, but it's still a bit broken, and I don't think Blizzard knows what to do still. Both specs are in a weird place still, and it might need more testing till we know what the path is.
Paladin
Paladin is looking good. Maybe not S Tier good but, mid to high A. If you like Paladin DPS, we suggest you either get on the Beta or try it in pre-patch.
Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter is still a fine spec, it tends to be fairly easy, which helps a lot on early boss encounters. The Hero talents for DH are not amazing, however, so it might take some time for things to settle.
Priest
The priest fantasy could be a really strong one going into War Within. With Shadow able to dip into a Discipline co-tree, Shadow Priest could find themselves in a really nice Support DPS niche alongside Evoker.
Death Knight
DK is looking ok, without really going above and beyond the call of duty. If you like DK, crack on, if not, maybe skip for now.
Warlock
Like Mage, Warlock is always a “safe” spec, provided you don't mind changing spec. Destruction looks strong for AoE, Demonology looks like chaos as always, and Affliction looks like a spec. Sadly, all 3 kinda feel “buggy”. They've had a lot of changes, and we suspect Demo and Destro especially will get many more tweaks before Season 1.
Monk
Windwalker looks a solid spec for War Within, and if you enjoy their playstyle then you'll have a good time.
Druid
Feral is not in a good spot once again, and Balance is in a weird spot. Again, plenty of time to change but for now, it's not great.
Warrior
Easy does it for Warrior thus far in War Within. If you like the play style, you'll still enjoy it. If you go Colossus, just prepare for a slot of spam. Slayer is the more “fun” build if you like spinning around a lot.
Rogue
Time will tell for Rogue as a whole, but one spec is likely to shine through. With the three specs having such different play styles, if you only like one spec then be careful as things stand.
Hunter
Hunter looks good, and after some early frustration on the Beta, it looks like a solid spec. BM especially early on will always do well just because of the ease of use. BM is certainly not as “easy” as before, but it's still a great option. Marksmen is a level up from BM, and Survival is a thing if you want to melee.
Shaman
I'll be honest, I asked my wife for help with this and her thoughts on Elemental were “I don't see why this is a big change”. She's played an Elemental now for some time, and bless her for doing it because I can't play that spec. There's still time on the beta for both Elemental and Enhancement to improve, but right now it's looking a bit rough for both.
