Blasphemous 2 is the direct sequel to Blasphemous, a very intriguing and interesting title from The Game Kitchen, a small Andalusian development studio. The release of the game is near and all fans of the first chapter will surely be ready to return to the gloomy and dark settings that characterized the first chapter of the series.
Those who have also played the expansions of the first chapter will know that the development team wanted to leave things very open and with many questions (we won't say anything else to avoid spoilers), but fortunately this second chapter will be a direct sequel to the first chapter, therefore, to avoid any surprises, we will receive the answers we are looking for. For this reason, we have decided to create this article where we give you some news about Blasphemous 2 before it makes its market debut.

Blasphemous 2 release date and Blasphemous 2 platforms
One of the first things to know and certainly one of the most searched for is the Blasphemous 2 release date. For the uninitiated, The Game Kitchen's game will be available on the global market starting August 24, 2023. Blasphemous 2 will be available to all players on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, owners of the old consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, who have not yet made the transition to their respective next-gen consoles, will not be able to enjoy the game.
Blasphemous 2 story
The narrative of Blasphemous 2 follows the events of its predecessor directly and occurs after the Wounds of Eventide DLC, albeit the exact timing is unknown. The Penitent One has awakened once more, but this time from what ought to have been his ultimate resting spot at the end of his journey. The Blasphemous 2 release date announcement trailer gives a hint at where we're going: to a huge cathedral that is hoisted high above a vast metropolis by three enormous statues, with a throbbing heart hanging in the sky above it. The cause for The Penitent One's resurrection is still unknown, but it does give us a glimpse of where we're going.
The Miracle infant, a purported sign of hope to bring the diverse population of the land just before birth together, is kept within this heart. We can't say we are convinced, though, given our previous experiences with The Miracle. We anticipate The Penitent One will once more take up arms in order to put an end to this prophetic birth and, ideally, to the cycle of suffering and punishment that has plagued The Miracle.
Blasphemous 2 gameplay
Fundamentally, Blasphemous 2's gameplay is slated to be a continuation of that of its predecessor: a grueling side-scrolling soulslike packed with elaborate settings to explore and deformed foes to take down. However, there are already a number of verified adjustments that will be made in the sequel. The gameplay of Blasphemous 2 will, in the words of producer David Erosa, “fall closer to the classic Metroidvania genre” than that of its predecessor, giving a larger, non-linear area than we experienced in Cvstodia.
We have been able to see a few of the brand-new weapons in action throughout the so-far-released videos for Blasphemous 2, which is another significant shift from the original game. In Blasphemous 2, the Penitent One can utilize the Censer, the Saber and Dagger, and the Praying Blade in addition to the Mea Culpa, which is no longer his only weapon. Although each of these weapons encourages a different playstyle, we anticipate that in order to survive to the finish of our trip, we will continuously be swapping between them.
With the option to broaden your main skill set and acquire new talents to help in both combat and exploration, The Penitent One himself is outfitted with greater customization this time around. Without a doubt, we will be searching for any assistance we can receive as we rip through The Miracle's twisted abominations and innocent victims.
