Best Gwen Counters League of Legends

Do you need help to lane against Gwen in League of Legends? Not to worry, here are the best champions to help you climb the LoL ladder.

Gwen is one of the best Skirmishers in the Top Lane of League of Legends right now. While many melee champions are AD, this chase-down machine is AP and will win most 1v1 trades once she has her items online. The question is, how do you counter Gwen in League of Legends? Don’t worry; ESTNN brings you the three best Top Lane counters for Gwen in this patch.

Best Gwen Counters in LoL

Tryndamere

Tryndamere is one of those champions you forget about, until you go up against him, and then question if he should be banned from your games for the foreseeable future. Tryndamere is the perfect champion against Gwen in the 1v1 battle. The key in this matchup is to build up your passive and only go for trades when you can deal that maximum damage, heal up, and dash away. Tryndamere players should also be looking to get a component that deals Grevious Wounds damage; this will allow you to easily chunk through her defenses and find an easier kill onto Gwen.

Jayce

T1 Worlds Skins

Jayce is one of the better options when looking for a champion to pick in the Top Lane against Gwen. Gwen has ‘some’ range with her abilities, but Jayce easily wins this match-up in the range wars. Jayce should be able to poke Gwen out, and if she gets too close, either kite back or knocks Gwen back with your E, which knocks enemy champions back, slowing them in the process. Like Tryndamere, you may want to pitstop on the way to your lethalithy items for Grevious Wounds components, this should help you in the 1v1 and trades won’t feel as one-sided. Try to bait out her W, this is what prevents you from doing any damage temporarily. Look to dive in, let her pop her W, then walk away and continue to poke with your Cannon form.

Trundle

Trundle is straight up a counter to Gwen in League of Legends. His abilities allow him to whittle her down without much retaliation. Trundle is easily able to heal back up to full even if he does take damage from Gwen. The problem is, Trundles pillar allows for him to easily disengage from the duel, meaning Gwen’s abilities will be on cooldown, while Trundle gets to go again for round two. Don’t go for an all-in immediately, just do simple yet consistent trades with her, she will be down to low health and that is when you can all-in, or if your lane is in a good place call for the Jungler to set up an easy gank. The healing you get from your ultimate will be too much for Gwen to handle, so even if she is sitting under tower, you will still be able to find opportunities to take her down. On top of that, your W gives you extra movement speed and healing, so Gwen will have a hard time, even with Ghost, catching up to Trundle.

Worst Champion To Pick Into Gwen In League of Legends

A tank like Sion is one of the worst champions to pick into Gwen in League of Legends right now. Sion is a very clunky champion, and is stationary when charging up his Q. Gwen can easily dodge this ability with her E, which dashes a small distance. On top of that, whenever Sion is on top of her, Gwen can easily pop her W and negate some of the damage from Sion. Gwen can also easily stop Sion’s W passive from charging up simply from her Q, which is enough damage to negate the shield that is being built up.
