Baldurs Gate 3 Patch 7 To Introduce Modding Tools, Add New Endings and Story-Based Content

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 is going to be massive, and fan’s can expect a variety of content additions to the game, including ‘dark’ new endings, modding tools, and more

Larian Studios announced that Patch 7 will be the last ‘story’ content update for their award-winning title, and the rest of the patches will focus on bug fixes, instead of introducing new content. Fans who chose the evil path in Baldur’s Gate 3 will have more new content to look out for, as Larian plans to expand on the evil ending epilogue in the game with Patch 7. There are also talks for a Photo mode, but fans can expect it in later updates, and not in the upcoming Patch 7.

Modding tools intend to breathe new life in the extensive RPG title, as there are endless ways modders can introduce new content while overhauling sounds, animations, and Larian wants just that, according to the latest developer update.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 To Be Rolled Out In Beta First

The developer update also revealed that a ‘few’ PC users will get to experience the patch in a beta state in the coming weeks, before Larian Studios does a full live-server release of the patch. Considering the content updates and the sheer scale of Patch 7, we think it’s a good move to roll out the patch in a beta state first and release the ‘perfect version’ upon testing it beforehand. Patch 7 will also be big on bug and glitch fixes, as this is seemingly the last update to add content to the third installment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise.

Being given the chance to develop a game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe has been a dream come true for all of us. But as Swen recently confirmed, we won't be introducing any major new narrative content to the story of Baldur's Gate 3 or its origin characters and companions, nor will we be making expansions or Baldur’s Gate 4.

“As an independent studio since 1996, we value the freedom to follow our creativity wherever it leads. In this case, after six years in the Forgotten Realms and much discussion and rumination, we’ve decided to seize this opportunity to develop our own IPs. We’re currently working on two new projects and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store.” added Larian Studios in the blog post on Steam.

With their latest community update, Baldur’s Gate 3 developers also revealed that their next title won’t a sequel in the Baldur’s Gate franchise, but a different property.  While we don’t have a release date for the Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 update, we speculate the developers to ship the update sometime during the second half of 2024.
