Ubisoft’s iconic game series Assassin’s Creed is moving to the mobile game scene with Assassin’s Creed Jade
Since being released in 2007, Assassin’s Creed (AC) has been an iconic gaming series. The games have been regarded by many as one of the best game series. They have revolutionized the PC and console games space with their jaw-dropping graphics and gameplay. Now, through Assassin’s Creed Jade, they aim to make their presence felt in mobile gaming as well.
The game had been announced around the same time as the newest Assassin’s Creed game, AC Mirage. Here’s what we know about it so far:
Assassin’s Creed Jade Release Date:
The game has gone through a beta release in China initially and then a global one. However, no official release date has been set for the game still has a long way to go. Fortunately, another beta release is to come soon and interested fans can register on their site.
Story
The game is set in ancient China. It will follow the story of the player’s character who is a descendant of one of the legendary assassins, Wei Yu. It is also set to take place before the event of AC Origins. Therefore the main characters are not officially Assassins yet as the order had not been formed. Additionally, it will overlap with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey as it too came before the creation of the Order. It has been speculated that Kassandra, the protagonist of Odyssey is set to make an appearance in the game.
All the supporting material such as trailers and their website also points towards a heavy focus on the Chinese Terracotta Army. They seem to be tied intricately to the story of the game. The Great Wall of China is also set to be an important part of the game.
Fun Fact: A statue of Wei Yu can be found in the villa Monte Riggioni in Assassin’s Creed 2.

Graphics
The game from the initial beta footage looks amazing. The world seems reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. While obviously not as attractive as a console release, the game looks astonishing for being a mobile game. The game bolsters a huge open world filled to the brim with lush fauna and populated cities. While the game does not have full cutscenes made yet, they promise to bring forth fully animated sequences.
Gameplay

AC Jade in true Assassin’s Creed fashion will have the core gameplay elements of the game such as stealth, parkour, and combat. Early Beta footage also shows promise. A recent gameplay trailer showed off some of the best aspects of it. This section will dissect some of the best parts of the gameplay:
Parkour
Jade features parkour on the same level as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. While not as good as the games that came before Odyssey, the parkour is perfect for a mobile game. The animations look great and even feature vaulting animations. The Leap of Faith, an iconic gaming mechanic from the mainline series also returns for this version of the game.
Stealth
Although the stealth in the game does not look as good as most AC games, it is perfect for a lower-powered version of the AC. It has a dedicated key to perform assassinations. The series' iconic hidden blades, unfortunately, do not return as the game is set before the creed was established. Daggers are used as a replacement for the iconic weapons. The game also has abundant cover to perform unique assassinations. Air assassinations also return featuring brand new animations. Jade also brings its unique take on chain assassinations.
Combat
The combat of the game is also very similar to that of Odyssey. The game allows a plethora of weapons that can be used mid-fight. Building combos is key to being good at the game and magical attacks are also making a return.
Multiple weapons are available through a loot system as the game is a live service game.
Character Customization
AC Jade offers the player to make their assassin. From gender to physical traits and more, the player has the freedom to customize their avatar however they choose. This is a setting unique to this game.
Music
The game has the series iconic “Ezio’s Family” returning as the main title track. The game will also have musical OSTs that will be based on Chinese music. Assassin’s Creed always features amazing soundtracks and we can expect the same from this game.
Co-op

Assassin’s Creed Jade is theorized to have a Cooperative mode set in place. Being a live service game, it is highly likely the game will allow players to play with their friends. Some cover art is reminiscent of that in AC Unity’s Co-op.
Bottomline
Assassin’s Creed Jade is showing a lot of promise. However, fans are a little conflicted about the game. The game being set at a timeline without the Assassin’s Creed being established seems to be a weird choice. Additionally, the games have always been better when released on a console.
On the bright side, the game seems to be optimized perfectly for mobile devices. The game has a unique potential as a first-of-its-kind game to come into the mobile game market.
