Activision also highlighted the addition of Open Combat Missions alongside the classic cinematic campaign missions. These will emphasize the player's choices and decision-making capabilities on the battleground. They also added that this will be the perfect blend of an action-filled single-player mission and a free-form open-world experience. Players will have various options to perform operations based on what they want. From choosing their approach and techniques to picking out the corresponding gear. The player will be able to utilize the open world and implement their tactics.
The Call of Duty Multiplayer Experience
Sledgehammer has tended to the veteran player's nostalgia by adding 16 maps from the 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The maps will be remastered and improved alongside new features and game modes. Multiplayer will include maps such as Favela, Invasion, Rust, Terminal, and Skidrow. Additionally, the post-launch updates will include more than 12 maps for a 6v6 game mode. Ground War will also be making a major comeback with 3 maps and one “colossal-sized” map for War mode. War mode was originally brought in Call of Duty: World War II which is a large-scale objective-based game mode.
Multiplayer Gameplay Mechanics & Features
New features will be added to enhance the gameplay mechanics. The game will be focusing on fast-paced gameplay and movement. These will amplify the way the game will feel and be played with the objectives kept in mind. Activision even released a trailer regarding these features.
One of the new features includes Tac-Stance, which will be a stance for the player’s character and will cater to tactical efficiency. The stance will be a bridge between hip-fire and aiming-down-sights (ADS). This will help during close-quarter-combat situations such as in tight rooms and hallways.

Modern Warfare II Progression Carry-Over
This is something that has been discussed for a long time and something the players have asked for, the carry-over of progression for things such as weapons and other content. Activision has stated that the progress from MWII will be transferred to MWIII. All the weapons will be available to use from Day One. Call of Duty wishes to respect and honor the time players have invested into their games and will ensure seamless functionality between the two games. Things like attachments and other features will be universal
