Zones

In the vast realm of Albion Online, diversity reigns supreme, as it's divided into four distinctive zone types, each with its own rules: blue, yellow, red, and black. These zones aren't just about colors; they embody a spectrum of PvP rules, shaping the very fabric of your adventures and the reputation you carve for yourself.

Blue

Firstly, there's the serene expanse of the blue zones, where safety is paramount, and PvP combat is restricted. It's a sanctuary for those seeking peaceful endeavors, where the repercussions of defeat are relatively mild, preserving your reputation from harsh blows. This is the best zone to start with and that will teach you how PvP works in Albion Online.

Yellow

The next zones are the yellow ones. Venture into the yellow zones, and you will find yourself in a middle ground, a realm where the rules are more relaxed, but danger still lurks around every corner. Here, losing a skirmish might sting a bit more, denting your reputation slightly, but it's not a devastating blow. You won't actually die, but you will be knocked down and you will never lose gold or silver.

Red

Now, let's tread into the fiery crucible of the red zones, where danger is palpable and PvP combat is unrestricted. In these territories, defeat carries weighty consequences, tarnishing your reputation significantly. Every encounter is a test of skill and nerve, where victory brings glory but defeat demands a toll. Here you die and you lose everything you have in your inventory.

Black

And finally, there's the ominous black zones, shrouded in mystery and peril. Here, the law of the land is brutal and unforgiving, with full-loot PvP and the highest stakes imaginable. Lose a battle in the black zones, and the consequences are dire, your reputation taking a severe hit that resonates throughout the realm. Here, you lose everything and can be attacked even if you're not flagged.

Unrestricted PvP Subzones

In some places, like Treasure Sites, there are zones where PvP is free-for-all. When you step into these areas, you automatically get a PvP flag, meaning you can battle anyone there unless they're from the same Faction (except in Caerleon). These zones are easy to spot with a glowing yellow circle on the ground. But be careful; going in means taking a risk. If you get knocked out in these areas, the rules depend on the zone: you'll just get knocked down in yellow zones, but it's game over in red zones. The good news is, fighting here won't hurt your reputation since everyone's flagged for PvP anyway.

Flagging

Flagging is to let other players know that you are looking for a fight. In the yellow and red zones, it means that a player can attack unflagged players. In red zones, anyone can attack a player who's been flagged. In yellow zones, anyone can attack except those flagged by factions. So, in both red and yellow zones, both flagged and unflagged players can attack someone who's flagged.

Obviously, the developers have thought of everything and have seen fit to adopt a Reputation mechanic to be able to put a brake on the attacks of other players in areas other than the black ones. In fact, anyone who attacks unflagged players will lose reputation. Once completely lost, he will no longer have access to the lower zone types until he gets his reputation back.

How to Flag

Now that we've explained how flagging works in Albion Online, it's time to tell you how to actually flag. If you pay attention, in the top left corner, you can see a small shield. To flag, all you have to do is click on it. Simple, right? Stand still and you'll see a bar load. Once full, you will let others know that you are flagging, so watch out for anyone nearby who is doing the same thing because it means they are ready to attack.

Faction Warfare

In Faction Warfare, there's a special type of flagging called faction flagging. When you're flagged this way, you earn points for your faction by doing things like gathering, defeating creatures, or taking over outposts. But there's a catch: if you're flagged for a different city's faction, they can attack you. To join a faction, you need to find the Faction Enlistment Agent in one of the Royal Cities.
