If you have reached this point, you have now reached the third boss that you will have to face in the game. The Alan Wake 2 Cynthia boss is certainly not an easy boss to face, nor are any of the others, but with some care, you should be able to get the better of it without too many problems. For this reason, in this article, we have decided to show you some of the strategies to follow in order to get the better of this boss and be able to continue with your adventure.
How to beat Cynthia in Alan Wake 2
Also, in this case, it is a boss fight divided into two different phases. Cynthia, initially, was not a hostile character, but over time, the vicissitudes in which she had to take part had the upper hand on her, transforming her into a sort of war machine determined to kill Tor Anderson. At this point, your task will be to enter into this confrontation to try to make Cynthia think again. Obviously, it won't be easy and there will be an escalation that will lead you to fight this enemy in a fairly challenging boss fight.
Phase 1
The first thing you will have to do as soon as the battle begins is to try to restore the power. As previously, in fact, such as in the battle against Mulligan and Thornton, here too the game will put you in a position where you are unable to have a clear view of your target. However, in this case, fortunately, you will have the possibility to restore the power, so it is an opportunity that you absolutely should not waste because it will help you have an easier life during the entire battle.
At this point, what you will have to do is go in the direction of the water and head to the right. Be careful, however, because if you spend too much time in the water, you will notice that it will start to move, a sign that someone is trying to reach you and catch you. Try by all means not to get grabbed, as this attack is very dangerous and inflicts a lot of damage. However, Cynthia isn't very difficult to avoid, so you shouldn't have any particular problems.
In any case, know that Saga is able to stay in the water for a long time, but our advice is to head as soon as possible towards the debris that is scattered in the area, so that you don't drown. Continue using this tactic until you see a rusted fence. At this point, turn to the left and you can see a hole right in the wall. Enter it and you will be in the area where you will have to go to restore the power. Continue with the previous strategy in this area too until you find a generator on the right of a corridor. Activate it and run into the central room to activate the switch.
At this point, Cynthia will be exposed because there will no longer be any water present in this area, so she will no longer have a way to hide and catch you off guard. Also, don't pay much attention to what Tor says, as he won't really die even if you waste a lot of time in this first phase of the fight, so do everything carefully and try not to get caught by Cynthia, old Tor will just be exaggerating in prey to fear.
Phase 2
Once you have lowered the water level, it means that the second phase of the battle will begin. At this point, leave the room with the console and head to the right to find a rusted staircase that will take you downstairs. At this point, you'll have a few moments to explore the area and grab as many resources as possible before Cynthia decides to make her entrance more aggressively than ever, determined to eliminate you once and for all. However, Cynthia doesn't know that you also have the same determination as her.
In this new area, there will be metal panels leaning against pipes and Cynthia will make her grand entrance as if she were possessed. Use your torch to eliminate her shield and, if you have it available, our advice is to use the rifle as a weapon to face this boss. This weapon, in fact, not only allows you to inflict a lot of damage if you hit Cynthia in the head, but also gives you the possibility of staying at a distance. Alternatively, you can opt for a completely opposite strategy and then get as close to her as possible (being very careful) and use your shotgun to inflict a lot of damage.
As for the attacks present in the arsenal of this Alan Wake 2 boss, Cynthia will mainly use two attacks: a close-range explosion and a long-range projectile. As a result, Cynthia knows how to defend herself both in case you decide to approach the strategy of staying away and in case you decide to get closer to her. If you are at a distance, Cynthia will send energy balls at you; if you are near her, Cynthia will turn into a ball and then explode.
Although staying close to her is still an effective strategy, the best one would be to remain distant, so it is really important that you manage to unlock the rifle before taking part in this battle. By doing so, in fact, you will be able to minimize the damage suffered as much as possible as there are many shelters to exploit in the arena, which will allow you not to be hit by Cynthia's ranged attack. Otherwise, the close-range attack is more difficult to avoid, so you will have to pay even more attention.
However, once you deal enough damage to her, Cynthia will fall to the ground and her shield will be restored again. At this point, as usual, focus above all on not being hit by her attacks, so implement a more defensive strategy and try to hit her on the head as soon as you have the chance. Repeat this process a couple of times until Cynthia is finally defeated and you can finally save Tor.
