League of Legends: Excel Esports signs Academy Coach Swiffer

Excel Esports has signed Simon “Swiffer” Papamarkos as the team’s Excel UK Coach for the 2020 UKLC season.

Swiffer takes on his first coaching role by joining Excel having previously played as a mid laner for Oceanic Pro League (OPL) team ORDER and Chiefs Esports Club.

Kieran Holmes-Darby, CEO of Excel Esports had this to say:

“We believe there is a whole host of talent that has not yet been discovered in League of Legends esports, both in playing and coaching roles. In Swiffer we are bringing a tested professional with a proven winning mentality in the OPL, all while collecting a great deal of silverware along the way. This combination of deep tactical understanding as well as established leadership qualities is an exciting prospect and natural fit for Excel and our ambition”.

Swiffer will lead an Excel UK side that had a 3rd and 2nd place finish in the 2019 UKLC and had a strong at the European Masters 2019 Summer event. With just a mid laner still to announced, Excel UK is looking like a solid contender for the UK crown, especially with seasoned pro KaSing playing in the side.

Joey ‘Youngbuck’ Steltenpool, League of Legends Head Coach at Excel Esports, who also joined in the preseason added: “Excel has attracted one of the most decorated and intelligent players ever to have come out of Oceanic League of Legends with the right level of game knowledge and soft skills to become a world-class coach in the future. We are thrilled to be the organization that has given Swiffer his first coaching role, leading our UK European Regional League team”.

Excel Esports also announced a preseason cup presented by its partner Neosurf which takes place at the home of Excel Esports and English Rugby Twickenham. Excel also announced a host of talent for the event including Frankie Ward, Aaron “Medic” Chamberlain, Dan “Foxdrop” Wyatt and Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere.
