V Rising Review – Not Just a Bloodsucker

Vampires have always been fascinating creatures that arouse a lot of interest in people, especially among lovers of the supernatural. As a result, the developers of V Rising decided to do something to “play it safe.” However, this certainly does not mean poor quality.

In this V Rising review, we will examine version 1.0 of the game, released after a long Early Access period. If you have had the opportunity to play in preview, you will certainly know what you are going to encounter. However, this review can be useful for all those who are new to this game.

The Vampires are Rising

As soon as we start the game for the first time, we will have the opportunity to watch an introductory film that explains the setting of the game. After a very long period of living in the shadows, vampires are ready to return and become the masters of the world.

Players, in fact, will have the opportunity to play a reborn vampire (hence the name of the game “V Rising”), which you can decide to create based on your preferences (you have a decent editor at your disposal). You will wake up in an abandoned cave and you will have to start exploring to recover both your strength and your powers.

We have no intention of continuing further in explaining the plot of the game, so that you are convinced that it must be savored as you proceed in your adventure. The game is full of things to do and twists, so going into too much detail about the plot can be counterproductive. Suffice it to say that, if you are a fan of vampires, you will certainly not be disappointed.

An Open World Survival Base Building Action RPG

The title is quite eloquent. V Rising is a game that mixes several different genres within it and does so masterfully. Each of these genres blends perfectly with the others, so the developers were able to create a product that managed to be credible in several aspects.

If you love survival games, open worlds, base building, or action RPGs, V Rising is the game for you. We are sure that you will be enraptured by the game mechanics and will spend hundreds of hours completing the various activities that are available. In fact, in addition to the story, there will also be a lot of time to dedicate to exploring and creating your own bases. But let's proceed step by step.

Since V Rising is a game that also belongs to the survival category, exploration certainly cannot be missing. If you want to live and build your kingdom, you certainly can't help but explore what the game world has to offer. You will need to be able to collect enough resources to craft weapons, armor, and various items.

But you shouldn't underestimate the base-building part of the game either. Shortly after the start of your adventure, while you are still in the introductory part, the game itself will ask you to build your first small castle. Obviously, this is to help you familiarize yourself with this functionality, it will certainly not be the definitive castle.

However, as you progress and explore the game world, you will be able to find places that are perfect for putting down roots. In this regard, we advise you to choose places that are elevated and sufficiently hidden by vegetation, so as not to have too many problems with the sun (you are vampires, the sun kills you!).

But we can't help but mention the RPG part of the game. Your vampire will have different abilities that can be unlocked over time, referring to different parameters, such as blood. So, you will have to get on the trail (not figuratively) of animals and enemies that have a certain “blood trail” to follow. Once found, you will have to kill them to suck their blood and unlock new abilities.

These skills will be very useful as you progress through the story of V Rising, as you will have to face increasingly powerful enemies and bosses. Also, don't forget that you can improve the things you have with crafting and gradually advance in level. In short, V rising is certainly a game that has a lot to offer from a gameplay point of view.

Light (but not Darkness)

From a technical point of view, we have absolutely nothing to say. V Rising was masterfully conceived in every way. We did not experience any type of technical problem that prevented us from enjoying our adventure as vampires. So, you shouldn't have any problems either.

Even from a graphic point of view, there are no problems of any kind, although some might complain about the “a bit cartoonish” and less realistic style. However, this is only a question of subjective tastes that should not be taken into consideration when judging a game. Finally, the sound part of the title is also well done and manages to immerse the player even more in the atmosphere of the game.

V Rising Review – 9.5/10

V Rising is an excellent game about vampires that manages to take the best of its various genres and mix them to create a superlative game. All lovers of vampires and this genre of games will certainly be pleasantly impressed. All the various aspects of the game (the plot, the gameplay, and the technical side) have been developed with extreme attention and we cannot fail to compliment the development team.
