Ultra Academy NA Win CDL Challengers Minnesota Open

Toronto Ultra’s Academy roster takes the first Challengers Open of the year.

Minnesota ROKKR were the hosts of the second Major of the 2022 Call of Duty League season. ROKKR has been one of the main COD League organizations pushing the development of players within the Challengers scene, and therefore it was only right that they hosted the first Challengers Open of the year at their event. However, it was Toronto Ultra’s Academy roster that took the crown, here’s how they did it.

Ultra Academy NA Win Challengers Open #1

Ultra Academy NA went into the event as the 12th seed based on their Pro Points. The roster of Hicksy, MohaK, Scrappy and Vikul had been on the losing end of multiple online Challengers events this year, with Texas Nation dominating the NA scene.

The first round was the best of three series, where Ultra Academy NA took out DTO in a 2-1 game. This was followed by a quick 3-0 over UYU, the 5th seed for the tournament. Ultra’s NA Academy team then took on their EU counterpart, and defeated them 3-1, before taking down #1 seed Texas Nation 3-2 in Winners Semis.

Ultra Academy then took down their eventual Grand Final opponents M7xE 3-0 in Winners Finals. In the rematch in the Grand Finals, M7xE won the first series 3-1, forcing a bracket reset. However, Ultra came back in the second series, winning 3-1 themselves and taking the crown as Minnesota Open Champions.
