Toronto Ultra vs OpTic Texas Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League Stage 5 Qualifiers

Toronto Ultra vs OpTic Texas will leave only one flawless squad other than Boston Breach in the 5th Stage of the CDL.

Even though the 2nd round of the Call of Duty League Stage 5 Qualifiers just started, the end of the weekend is approaching. But before we can get ready for the last Qualifiers of the 2023 CDL, we have same banger matches, such as Las Vegas Legion and Minnesota RØKKR, Boston Breach vs Seattle Surge, and of course the showdown between Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas.

Toronto Ultra vs OpTic Texas Preview

Toronto Ultra

The champions of the Call of Duty League Stage 3 Major are back with a vendetta after the failure that was the Stage 4 of the CDL. After winning the trophy at the Esports Stadium Arlington, they finished 9th in the last Qualifiers, and only managed to make it to the top 6 before getting knocked out by Atlanta FaZe.

They came back swinging into the Stage 5 Qualifiers, scoring two victories so far: last Friday, they managed to beat Seattle Surge 3-0, not even letting them score a round on Hotel Control. Afterwards, they showed Stage 4 Champions Los Angeles Thieves who’s boss when they beat them 3-1 on Saturday – and Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst and co. are far from done.

OpTic Texas

However, they might find their match in OpTic Texas, who are also flawless so far. The extremely popular squad have defeated Las Vegas Legion by an inch at the start of Stage 5, beating James “Clayster” Eubanks and his teammates 3-2. Afterwards, however, they proved themselves, as they destroyed Atlanta FaZe in the second match of last Sunday, beating them 3-0.

Nevertheless, something’s missing from Cuyler “Huke” Garland’s and his teammates 2023 season so far: a Major win. They got to the finals in both Stage 3 and Stage 4 from the Lower Bracket, but failed to seal the deal both times – and on the first occasion, their title was taken away from them by the players of Toronto Ultra.

Toronto Ultra vs OpTic Texas Predictions

We have 2 teams that have scores to settle: Ultra against the whole competition, and OpTic against the squad of Toronto specifically. They clashed 4 times this year, two matches were won by Toronto Ultra, but Huke and co. managed to get two victories as well – but Toronto proved to be the better team when it mattered the most, in the Grand Final of the Stage 3 Major.

In terms of stats, Toronto Ultra takes the cake as well. While they might not have the 43-23 W/L ratio of OpTic on Hardpoint, they are a strong team all around, having positive winrates in all thee gamemodes. While individually, OpTic has better numbers, sadly, Call of Duty is a team game.
