With the second Challengers Cup coming up this weekend, we take a look at some of the teams to look out for.
The Call of Duty Challengers Cup is an amateur tournament run by the Call of Duty League which gives players a chance to get noticed by the League teams. As the CDL shrinks from 5v5 to 4v4, we now see many former professional players competing with new, up and coming players. Here are some teams you’ll want to look out for this weekend.
Contents
BabyFaZe – North America
BabyFaZe were the winners of last week's Challengers Cup. The team of PaulEhx, Venom, Zapitus & GRVTY dominated the North American side of things, all finishing with a 1.14 K/D or higher. PaulEhx was the standout player from the weekend with a massive 1.58 overall K/D. As all players were part of the Atlanta FaZe academy last season, it’s no surprise to see them playing extremely well. However, with how stacked the NA Challengers Cup is, it’ll be a tough task to do it again.
House Tarth – Europe
House Tarth were the winners of last week's Challengers Cup in Europe. Afro was the main slayer in the team, putting up 299 kills and a 1.20 overall K/D. Defrag, Gismo and Peatie may have been behind on the K/D front, however, they are all extremely good players and this team seems to work more off team play than individuals. With a very competitive European bracket, it will be hard for House Tarth to go back to back. However, if they can it will be a brilliant start to the season, especially for former CWL players Defrag and Peatie.
Aches, Lacefield, Karma + 1 – North America
Damon “Karma” Barlow came out of retirement for last week's Challengers Cup and he’s confirmed his participation in this week's competition too. As one of the Call of Duty greats, Karma has three World Championships and can still keep up with the younger players, dropping a 1.13 overall K/D last weekend. While we don't know the final member of this roster, Aches, Lacefield and Karma will be competing, likely with another ex-pro.
Challengers Cup #2 kicks off on Saturday, December 12 and will span across the weekend. The European bracket will start at 7:30 AM ET, with the NA bracket starting at 12:30 PM ET.
