Team Liquid Teases the Mysterious “Project Whirlwind”

A tweet today from the official Team Liquid Twitter account announced the reveal date for the mysterious Project Whirlwind.

Team Liquid’s official Twitter account posted a cryptic tweet this afternoon, teasing something called mysterious: “Project Whirlwind.”

The tweet itself contains Team Liquid’s most prominent sponsors, including Monster, Alienware, SAP, Honda, HyperX, Need for Seat, and Twitch. The tweet also contained the date 6/27/2019, which should be the reveal date for Project Whirlwind. Additionally, all of Team Liquid's brand Twitter accounts have changed their profile pictures to a red circle. Spooky.

Most interestingly, there is a distinct lack of blue, Team Liquid’s signature color, in the tweet. While Project Whirlwind is unlikely to be a complete rebrand of the well-known organization, the tweet’s red background may hint at either new team for TL or an expansion of their current brand.

Team Liquid's YouTube banner has some red in it, as well as TL's League of Legends update series, “The Liquid Update with Ovilee May.

Another possible explanation could be related to Team Liquid's recent partnership with Chinese streaming giant HUYA, which will show Team Liquid streams in the country. China's flag is predominantly red. At this point, however, it's all speculation. Either way, fans will know more about Project Whirlwind on Thursday.

There’s a lot we don’t know in regards to Project Whirlwind but stay tuned to ESTNN for continuing coverage.
