Turner Sports esports brand ELEAGUE announced today that it would continue its pairing with Rocket League developer Psyonix. ELEAGUE will produce and air a mini-series covering the Rocket League Championship Series 7 and 8. The series is set to air in late 2019.
Additionally, TBS will broadcast the Collegiate Rocket League (CRL). CRL features college teams competing for a chance to compete at the NCAA Final Four Fan Fest in April.
Over the years Turner Sports has been at the forefront of bringing esports to live television, broadcasting a CS:GO League live on TBS. This will be the third Rocket League series that ELEAGUE has hosted. Previously, the channel has televised two ELEAGUE Cup events for the sport in late 2018. It is important to note that ELEAGUE has moved away from live-coverage of esports, and instead has trended towards pre-recorded matches.
Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham had this to say on the partnership: “We’re excited to bring Rocket League Esports and the Rocket League Championship Series to new television and collegiate audiences. This is a significant step forward for our sport and ongoing relationship with our partners at ELEAGUE. We’re excited to see what the future will bring!”
