New York Subliners vs Los Angeles Guerrillas sees the NY squad look to get back to their Stage 1 form, while the LA team wants to escape elimination.
Only a few matches remain from the Call of Duty League Stage 5 Qualifiers’ second week! The Bounty Match system should make this round extremely interesting, as the teams are fighting for $10,000 per victory instead of just standings and Championship Points. However, some teams – such as the Los Angeles Guerrillas are in dire need of the latter if they want to partake in the 2023 CDL Championship.

New York Subliners vs Los Angeles Guerrillas Preview
New York Subliners
Preston “Priestahh” Greiner and co. set the highest bar for themselves in the Stage 1 Major, where they managed to take it all – but they haven’t been able to replicate the success. After the win, they got an 8th place in the Stage 2 Major, fluke out immediately from the Stage 3 Major against Florida Mutineers, but managed to somewhat recuperate in Stage 4, where they finished 4th just behind Atlanta FaZe.
They have already locked in for Champs, so they have little to worry about, but another win could hurt – and with their 1-1 standing so far, they are certainly in the running.
Los Angeles Guerrillas
The Guerrillas, however, are far from done. They currently sit at the 11th place of the Season Standings with 80 points, which means that they can still make Champs, but they need a miracle to do so.
Miracles have avoided them so far, as the multiple-time champion Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson and his teammates have yet to show anything this year: their best performance was a 7-8th place in the Stage 2 Major, but other than that, they always took quick exits from the tournaments. They lost both their matches in the first week of Stage 5, but beat London Royal Raven on May 12th, so there some sense of hope.
New York Subliners vs Los Angeles Guerrillas Predictions
The Guerrillas are coming into this match as underdogs, as they are not doing that well in either gamemode of the CDL: they have a 21-33 record on Hardpoint, 18-25 on Search and Destroy and 12-19 on Control. On top of that, the individual numbers of the team are a bit shaky as well, with Arcitys having the worst stats in come areas, such as Kills per 10 Minutes in Control.
Los Angeles Guerrillas also haven’t been able to beat the Subliners this year. They met the Stage 1 Champions twice in the first segment of the Call of Duty League, but suffered 0-3 losses both times – can they avoid their fate of elimination from Champs, or will they be able to pull through? I think the former will be the reality.
