New York Subliners vs Las Vegas Legion Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 4 Major

The Legion have finished in the top 8 since the start of the Call of Duty League, but can Clayster and co. get even further?

The second (and more exciting!) half of the Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 4 is upon us, as Major IV starts today! 8 teams will duke it out this Thursday, and surprisingly Las Vegas Legion is among them – for the first time since the 2019 inaugural season of the Call of Duty League. But they will face none other than Stage 1 Major winners, New York Subliners, which makes it almost personal for James “Clayster” Eubanks.

New York Subliners

The Subliners have started the year in an incredibly strong fashion, as they won the Stage 1 Major after getting 9th place in the Qualifiers. This put Preston “Priestahh” Greiner and co. on the radar for everyone, but after the 1st Major, NYSL couldn’t really replicate their success. They finished 4th in the Stage 2 and Stage 4 Qualifiers, but at the Majors themselves, they couldn’t crack the Top 8, and finished in the bottom of the pack in Stage 3.

But in the Stage 4 Qualifiers, the only team that beat New York Subliners was OpTic Texas, but other than the strongest team in the Qualifiers, they have defeated every opponent coming their way – including Atlanta FaZe.

But the Legion have subverted all expectations just by making it to the Top 8, starting in the Winner’s Bracket for the first time since the existence of the organization and the Call of Duty League. Clayster and his team have already surprised the community, as they made the Top 6 in the Stage 1 Major and the Stage 3 Major as well. But since the addition of Eli “Standy” Bentz, Legion has improved a lot, alongside the young player himself: he pulls absolutely ridiculous numbers according to stats site Breaking Point, leading the team in kills in both SnD and Hardpoint.

Thanks to this fact, LVL has beat Boston Breach, Los Angeles Guerrillas, Florida Mutineers and Stage 3 Major winners Toronto Ultra, finishing with a 4-1 scoreline after failing to beat London Royal Ravens. However, one mistake is not everything, and Clayster will have his revenge on his former team.

New York Subliners vs Las Vegas Legion Predictions

While New York Subliners are the clear favourites in this matchup, I believe that Las Vegas Legion didn’t surprise us for the last time just by making it to the Upper Bracket. Clayster will be playing against the team which he didn’t part ways with on the best terms, and while Legion didn’t beat NYSL this year yet, they didn’t have Standy on board. With Thomas “TJHaLy” Haly and Donovan “Temp” Laroda stepping their game up to the standard of Standy on SnD and Hardpoint LVL will be among the stronger teams longer for just one round.
