Modern Warfare 3 introduces a new way to aim at enemies; here’s what you need to know

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 gave birth to a lot of controversies and criticisms regarding its less-than-subpar single-player content. However, the online multiplayer mode introduces some fresh features. One such feature is the curiosity-sparking “Tactical Stance,” also known as “Tac-stance.” If you are looking to dominate online lobbies full of sweaty tryhards, you must deeply understand what this mechanics is about.

Do you struggle to choose between the Hip Fire and ADS shooting modes? If so, you might be interested in learning about Tac-Stance. This firing technique offers a balance between precision accuracy and improved mobility and handling. By tilting the weapon slightly to the left, Tac-Stance provides a canted firing position, which allows for more flexibility and adaptability in combat situations.

By default, Tactical Stance is turned on in Modern Warfare 3. However, the default controls and behavior may not suit your preference. This guide provides detailed instructions on how to access and effectively use Tactical Stance in the game. It will help you customize your experience and make the most of this feature.

Modern Warfare 3 Tactical Stance Explained

If you're a fan of first-person shooter games, you might have heard of Tactical Stance, a proper aiming technique that strikes a perfect balance between hip-firing and aiming down sights. According to Activision, the game's developer, Tactical Stance offers several advantages, such as increased mobility speed and better visibility than aiming down a scope. The technique also avoids the wide bullet spread that comes with hip-firing.

Tactical Stance is most effective at close distances, making it the ideal choice when you need to react quickly to an enemy's presence. Compared to the other two aiming options, the Tactical Stance provides higher precision while ensuring faster reflexes. You can quickly identify whether you're using Tactical Stance by observing the diagonal angle of the weapon and the tighter crosshair that appears on the screen.

Turn On or Off “Tac-Stance”

To customize your gameplay experience, you can configure your Tac-Stance settings in the Combat Behaviors section of the Gameplay Settings menu. In this section, you'll have access to a variety of options that allow you to adjust the activation and behavior of your Tactical Stance.

If you're playing on a PlayStation or Xbox console, you can easily toggle Tac-Stance on and off by pressing the ADS+Down Button. On PC, the toggle command is ADS+V. With these simple commands, you can quickly and efficiently activate your Tactical Stance to gain an edge in combat.

Change Tactical Stance Controls

When sliding, the Tactical Stance is automatically activated. Alternatively, if you're using a controller, you can start it by aiming with the left trigger and pressing down on the D-Pad. To customize the controls for Tactical Stance, navigate to the Settings menu and select Controller. From there, you can make the necessary changes to suit your preferences.

In order to access the Combat Behaviors, navigate to the Gameplay section and then tab over to it. Once there, scroll all the way down until you see the two Tactical Stance options: Tactical Stance Activation and Tactical Stance Behavior. These options are responsible for determining how your character behaves during combat.

You have five choices for the Tactical Stance Activation controls.

  • Off
  • ADS + Sprint
  • ADS + Melee
  • ADS + Down Button
  • Double-tap ADS

When it comes to Tactical Stance Behavior, this determines how long the stance is active. If it's set to a toggle, then it will remain active until manually disabled. On Respawn means that the stance will be enabled until your character dies and respawns. If it's set to Once, the stance will be active until you stop aiming.
