Las Vegas Legion vs Florida Mutineers Preview and Predictions: Call of Duty League 2023 Stage 4 Major

The Legion has been knocked down to the Lower Bracket, but that doesn’t mean they are out of the CDL Major IV.

The first round of the Upper Bracket of Call of Duty League Stage 4 Major has concluded, and there were no upsets in the first 4 matches: Atlanta FaZe had an easy victory over Seattle Surge, OpTic Texas beat Boston Breach 3-1, New York Subliners bulldozed Las Vegas Legion off the map, and Minnesota RØKKR only managed to win one round against Los Angeles Thieves. On Friday, the Lower Bracket will begin with Florida Mutineers facing off against Las Vegas Legion.

Las Vegas Legion

Everyone had high hopes for the Legion, as they have made history by qualifying for the Upper Bracket for the first time since the inaugural season of the Call of Duty League. They also had Eli “Standy” Bentz join before Stage 4 with whom they beat Boston Breach, Toronto Ultra, Los Angeles Guerrillas and Florida Mutineers as well.

Sadly, that didn’t help James “Clayster” Eubanks against his former team, as New York Subliners beat the Legion 3-0. While in the Mercado Hardpoint, Las Vegas had some nice plays, they still lost 200-250 against their opponents – and scored their last point, as NYSL beat LVL 6-0 in the El Asilo Search and Destroy, and 3-0 in Control on the same map. But they still have a second chance in the Loser’s Bracket

Florida Mutineers

Florida Mutineers were the weakest team of the Stage 4 Major Qualifiers. They were the only squad which went 0-5 in the last three weeks, but they had some nice performances sprinkled in here and there. While Carson “Brack” Newberry and his team almost managed to beat Atlanta FaZe and won a map against Seattle Surge, they got blown out of the water by Minnesota RØKKR and Toronto Ultra as well.

2023 is not the Mutineers’ year, as their best finish was a Top 8 in the Stage 3 Major, where they got knocked out after losing to OpTic Texas 1-3. The team can’t really get a proper lineup, as they constantly swap members around, and they recently had to bench Colt “Havok” McLendon because of the player’s personal reasons. This has taken a toll on the organization, and it’s uncertain if they can stand back up this year.

Las Vegas Legion vs Florida Mutineers Predictions

While Las Vegas Legion couldn’t win a single map against New York Subliners, they shouldn’t have any problems against the Florida Mutineers. They have already proved themselves in the Qualifiers, and while every map was close, Mutineers couldn’t seal the deal bar from the first Hardpoint match. It won’t be a flawless victory, but Clayster and co. should be able to proceed in the Lower Bracket.
