JKap Retires From Professional Call of Duty

One of the longest playing professional Call of Duty players Jordan “JKap” Kaplan has announced his retirement from the game

On September 2, Jordan “JKap” Kaplan announced his retirement from professional Call of Duty on Twitter. He said “I’m officially retiring from Call of Duty. It was an incredible 10-year run that gave me some of the best memories of my life, but it’s time to move on to another challenge. Thank you for all the support over the years”

JKap’s Career

JKap has been a professional player since 2010 competing in Call of Duty 2. However, it was on Black Ops 1 where he made his name after joining OpTic Gaming and he hasn’t left a top tier team since. JKap has been a player for many notable organizations including OpTic, FaZe Clan, Team Envy, Denial, Luminosity, EUnited, Evil Geniuses and most recently back to OpTic Gaming in the Call of Duty League.

In JKap’s 10 year career, he has won two World Championships and reached four Championship Grand Finals. This is the most out of any player. He is also one of only three players to win back to back World Championships. He achieved these Championships in 2015 on Advanced Warfare under Denial Esports and in 2016 on Black Ops 3 under Team Envy. JKap has earned over $700k in prize money throughout his career making him the 5th highest earning Call of Duty player of all time.

Kaplan’s retirement was responded to with a lot of support from the community with fellow players referring to him as a “legend of the game” and one of the “GOAT’s”. Following a difficult 2020 Modern Warfare season, JKap felt it was time to retire from competing. However, he may follow in the footsteps of other retired pro players and move to a coaching role or the Call of Duty League analysts desk.
