Immortals Gaming Club will purchase Infinite Esports and Entertainment for $35-$45M USD in cash and equity, according to a report by ESPN's Jacob Wolf.
Immortals Gaming Club has announced a deal to purchase OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws parent company, Infinite Esports and Entertainment, for between $35-$45M USD in cash and equity. As of right now, Immortals is now “responsible for all of Infinite's financial obligations.” Immortals will also take possession of OpTic Gaming's League of Legends slot.
Little is known about the Houston Outlaws, Infinite Esports Overwatch League franchise, side of the deal. What is known, however, is that Blizzard Entertainment does not allow Overwatch League owners to own two separate teams in the League. Immortals, for their part, are the owners of the Los Angeles Valiant. The report states that Immortals will sell off the Outlaws separately. Interestingly, the Overwatch League's Stage 3 kicked off last night, so it is unclear what penalties Immortals will face, or whether the Houston Outlaw's will be allowed to play in the League before their separate sale is finalized.
Blizzard did not respond to ESTNN's request for comment in time for publication.
Rumors of the sale have persisted in the past months, with many fans wondering what would happen to the famed Green Wall. There were reports that OpTic CEO and Owner Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez would attempt to retain control of the brand. That bid, however, looks as though it was unsuccessful.
ESTNN will update this article as more information becomes available.
