CoD: Treyarch Releases New Black Ops Cold War Zombies Information

With just two weeks until the launch of Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch has released some new information on Zombies

Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode brings together some new innovative features with some fan favorites to create a completely new and unique Zombies experience. In their latest blog post, they announced some of these new features, so let's take a look at everything you need to know before launch.

Perks

There will be six different Perks available in Black Ops Cold War. Jugger-Nog, Quick Revive, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, Deadshot Daiquiri and Elemental Pop. While Perks are a normal feature in Zombies, Black Ops Cold War introduces Skill Tiers and allows you to upgrade Perks to three tiers.

To upgrade Perks you’ll need Raw Aetherium Crystals. These can be found by reaching milestone rounds throughout the game or through successful exfiltration. While players will only have access to six Perks from launch, Treyarch has announced that new Perks will be added throughout the post-launch seasons.

Weapon Rarities

Zombies survival is all about the weapons, and Black Ops Cold War brings a whole new level of depth to this. Weapons will now come in five different tiers of rarity: Common/Loadout, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Each tier increases the damage done and also determines the number of randomized attachments on the weapon.

The Mystery Box will now be even more important with the chance of giving out a Legendary weapon increasing the higher in the rounds you go. It will also now include support items such as the Sentry Turret and War Machine.

Custom Loadouts

As we know, progression will be unified between Multiplayer and Zombies in Black Ops Cold War. This means that players will be able to use a full custom loadout in Zombies, however, it will be much more simplified than its Multiplayer counterpart. Zombies custom loadouts will only feature one Primary weapon and a Field Upgrade. While the Primary weapon will feature the attachments and cosmetics you’ve added, it will be the lowest rarity, Common. This means that after the first few rounds, you’ll definitely need an upgrade.

Field Upgrades

Field Upgrades will be extremely useful in Zombies and essential to success. However, they won't be the same ones found in Multiplayer. The Field Upgrades available at launch include:

  • Frost Blast –Create a frigid blast of wind that deals frost damage and slows enemies caught inside of it. Slowed enemies take additional damage.
  • Healing Aura – Summon beams of energy down on yourself and allies to instantly heal to full health.
  • Energy Mine – Create a mine of pure energy that detonates on proximity of enemies, dealing explosive damage.
  • Ring of Fire – Create a ring of ethereal fire that boosts damage for you and allies. Normal enemies who enter gain a burning effect that deals fire damage. Lasts 15 seconds.
  • Aether Shroud – Phase into the Dark Aether for five seconds becoming hidden from enemy detection.

Armor and Salvage

Previous Zombies experiences have featured a crafted shield as another layer of protection against the undead, however, this year we’ll see the Armor system integrated. Armor can be found as a rare drop of Zombies, or can be purchased using Salvage. Zombies get stronger each round, so your Armor needs to get stronger too. You can increase the damage mitigation and durability of your Armor by upgrading it up to two levels.

Treyarch has introduced many new features to Zombies this year. With new Perks and maps coming frequently in new seasons, Zombies fans have a lot to look forward to this year.
