This weekend we see the first Call of Duty League event of the Black Ops Cold War season, here’s everything from the schedule and format to players you should be looking out for.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War released just over three weeks ago and it's competitive scene has been thriving since. However, we've yet to see any official Call of Duty League events. That is until this weekend, with the first Challengers Cup. Both NA and EU will have their own cup, with $2,000 going to the first place team.
Format & Bracket
The Call of Duty League Challengers Cups are played exactly like Call of Duty League events. They'll play 4v4 Variant and will compete in best of five’s in a double elimination bracket across the whole weekend; with the Grand Final granting a bracket reset opportunity to the team coming from Losers. Teams aren't only playing for the cash prize — they're playing for valuable pro points on the gamebattles ladder. Which allows them admission into further tournaments down the line.
Teams
With the Call of Duty League moving to 4v4 for the 2021 season, we are expecting to see many former Call of Duty League professionals in the amateur Challengers Cups this season. Some notable ex-pros to look out for are Jurd, Censor, Decemate, Blazt, Parasite, Rated and many more. Some up and coming players to look out for are Afro, Neptune and Fire.
Schedule and How to Watch
The Challengers Cup kicks off on Saturday December 5th at 7:30am ET for the EU bracket and 12:30pm ET for NA. It will continue onto Saturday where the tournament will conclude and we will see the winners crowned. It hasn't been confirmed if there will be an official broadcast, but most of your favourite competitors will stream their POV for the tournament.
