CDL Major 4 Champions Los Angeles Thieves are finally back on track!

The 4th Major of the 2023 Call of Duty League concluded this Sunday, and there was one red and black team to rise above all!

12 teams, 4 extremely exciting weekends, but only 1 squad to reign above all: the 2023 Call of Duty League Major 4 has finished this Sunday, with Los Angeles Thieves taking home their first big W since the 2022 Call of Duty League Championship!

Los Angeles Thieves had an okay year before Major 4: Kenneth “Kenny” Williams and his teammates have had a bit of a slower start, finishing 6th in the Call of Duty League Stage 1 Major Qualifiers, and in the top 6 during the Stage 1 Major after failing to get past Toronto Ultra.

In Stage 2, they had a worrying showing in the Stage 2 Major Qualifiers, where they only managed to secure two victories out of five matches played. Nevertheless, they went on to play in the finals after an incredible run through the Lower Bracket, but couldn’t seal the deal, losing to Atlanta FaZe 2-4 in the last match of the Stage.

Stage 3 was another quiet period for last year’s Champs, as even though they finished 5th in the Qualifiers, they got knocked out from Major III in the second round of Elimination – and by none other than Las Vegas Legion, which was a fairly low point for the Thieves.

But everything changed when Stage 4 rolled around. Zack “Drazah” Jordan and his teammates went almost unbeaten in the Qualifiers: the only team that got the best of them was OpTic Texas, who beat the Thieves 3-1, but LAT defeated London Royal Ravens and Minnesota RØKKR 3-0, while Los Angeles Guerrillas and Seattle Surge won one map against them, but they couldn’t win the whole series.

On the path of Champions

Los Angeles Thieves didn’t slow down in Major IV either, as they managed to stay on the Winner’s Bracket for the whole tournament. Kenny and co. beat Minnesota RØKKR yet again, this time dropping one map, but finishing as dominant as ever. In Round 2, they faced off against FaZe, but they didn’t repeat the mistakes of the past, and beat them 3-1, knocking them to the Loser’s Bracket. Afterwards, they managed to turn the script in it’s head after beating OpTic Texas 3-1 as well, thanks to some incredible plays by Sam “Octane” Larew and Dylan “Envoy” Hannon.

Los Angeles Thieves managed to make it to the finals of Stage 4, but nothing was set in stone, as they have made it this far in Stage 2 as well. But FaZe was out of the picture as their opponents were the players of OpTic Texas, who they beat in the Upper Bracket Finals. The last series of Stage 4 was no different: LAT started strong with a 250-200 win of Hydro Hardpoint, but OpTic recuperated right away with a 6-3 win on Hotel SnD. After Expo Control, Kenny and his team took the lead back, only to lose it again in the second Hardpoint of the Series. Afterwards they didn’t falter, beating Cuyler “Huke” Garland and co. on both El Asilo Search and Destroy and El Asilo Control, which meant that they were the ones to lift the trophy of the Stage 4 Major!
