CDL Major 3 Qualifiers – Week 2; Day 2 Recap

Here’s all the action from Week 2; Day 2 of CDL Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League has returned following an eventful Major 2 in Boston. We return with more Major 3 Qualifiers this week, and here’s all the action from the first day of week two. With another four great matches, we saw some upsets and some dominant victories.

Toronto Ultra 3-0 New York Subliners

Toronto Ultra came into this match hot off of back-to-back wins since adding Hicksy to the squad. The team looks more composed than ever, and could be one of the best in the game at the moment. This series was close, however as we started with a 250-235 Hotel Hardpoint.

Toronto Ultra went on to extend their lead to 2-0 in this series with a 6-3 Embassy Search and Destroy win. Both Scrappy and CleanX put up a massive 10 kills in this map two, putting their Ultra team on a series point. Toronto Ultra closed out the series in a quick 3-0 sweep with a 3-2 El Asilo Control win in map three. In this map it was the SMG duo of CleanX and Hicksy who dominated, cementing Ultra’s spot as one of the best in the game.

LA Thieves 3-1 Seattle Surge

Seattle Surge started this series in extremely dominant fashion, completely blowing out the LA Thieves in the map one Hotel Hardpoint. Seattle Surge took a 250-139 victory that saw Pred put up a massive 28 kills and a 1.87 K/D to give Seattle a 1-0 lead in this series. However, the LA Thieves came right back with a 6-4 El Asilo Search and Destroy win in map two that featured 10 kills from Kenny, and tied the series 1-1.

The following two maps in the series were extremely close, with the LA Thieves narrowly taking victories in both. A 3-2 El Asilo Control victory saw the Thieves take the lead of the series 2-1, before they closed it out with a 250-235 Hydro Hardpoint win in map four. This final map saw a great performance from Drazah as he put up 28 kills and a 1.47 K/D to lead the lobby and close out the series.

Florida Mutineers 3-1 Boston Breach

Boston Breach came out hot in map one of this series and took a 250-211 Hydro Hardpoint victory to kick off the match. This saw the Florida Mutineers tie the record for most maps lost in a row at 12, and looked to be another 3-0 loss. However, they came back in this series and it all began with the map two victory. A 6-2 Fortress Search and Destroy win saw Brack put up 8 kills and a 2.67 K/D to tie the series 1-1 and get the Mutineers their first win with the new roster.

Amazingly, the Florida Mutineers continued to win in this series, taking a 3-1 Fortress Control victory to take a 2-1 lead in this series. The Florida Mutineers took the fourth map of this series in a 250-185 Hotel Hardpoint, and this saw them win their first series with the new team, and in dominant fashion too.

Atlanta FaZe 3-1 Las Vegas Legion

Las Vegas Legion began this series well, starting with a 250-211 Hotel Hardpoint victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Temp was the main slayer here as he put up 25 kills and a 1.67 K/D to top the leaderboard and kick off this series with a win. However, the Atlanta FaZe came back with an extremely dominant map two Search and Destroy, taking a 6-2 victory on Mercado. Simp topped the leaderboard with 9 kills here, and this momentum saw them go on to take the map three El Asilo Control in a 3-0 sweep.

Cellium was unbelievable here, putting up 19 kills and a massive 3.17 K/D in the map three victory. Atlanta FaZe continued to perform, taking the series 3-1 with a 250-104 Embassy Hardpoint, seeing Cellium top the leaderboard once again.
