CDL Major 3 Qualifiers – Week 2; Day 1 Recap

Here’s all the action from Week 2; Day 1 of Major 3 Qualifiers.

The Call of Duty League has returned following an eventful Major 2 in Boston. We return with more Major 3 Qualifiers this week, and here’s all the action from the first day of week two. With another three great matches, we saw a great performance out of Atlanta FaZe, and two close fought matches.

Atlanta FaZe 3-0 London Royal Ravens

The London Royal Ravens have been through some tough times recently with a number of roster changes, however they came out strong in this match. A close fought 250-229 Hotel Hardpoint saw this map go the way of Atlanta FaZe, however this was a map that should’ve gone the way of the Royal Ravens. Nastie topped the leaderboard on the side of the Ravens as he put up 28 kills, but it was some poor holds that saw them easily broken that resulted in the map loss.

Atlanta FaZe went on to extend their lead to 2-0 in the series with a 6-5 El Asilo Search and Destroy win. Yet again, this was a map that the Ravens should have won, as they saw themselves with a 5-4 lead before an aBeZy 1v3 in the final round saw them suffer another close loss, and go 2-0 down in the series. This series was over extremely quickly as Atlanta FaZe closed it out with a 3-2 Hotel Control win for a quick 3-0 sweep. However, this was most definitely not a 3-0 series, and the London Royal Ravens will be disappointed that they were unable to close out any maps.

Toronto Ultra 3-0 OpTic Texas

Toronto Ultra started this series with a well played 250-124 Hotel Hardpoint victory. This map saw Scrappy back at his best as he put up a massive 31 kills and a 1.72 K/D as Toronto Ultra took a 1-0 lead in the series. This was extremely dominant, with Ultra outslaying massively, and OpTic Texas looking far off the pace of the game. OpTic Texas looked in a great position to close out the second map of this series as they had a 5-2 lead on Fortress Search and Destroy. However, Toronto Ultra pulled off a great comeback, taking us all the way and closing out the map 6-5 to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The second 3-0 of the night was closed out by Toronto Ultra as they dominated the map three Hotel Control with a quick 3-0 sweep. CleanX put up a big 21 kills to lead the lobby, however it was some important multikills and clutches from Hicksy that was the main driving force of this map three.

Boston Breach 3-0 Los Angeles Guerrillas

Boston Breach came out with a dominant map one performance with a 250-188 Hydro Hardpoint victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Beans and Owakening were the main slayers here putting up 29 and 27 kills respectively, and it seems Beans has really settled in at Boston Breach. We headed towards our third 3-0 of the night with Boston Breach taking a 6-3 Hotel Search and Destroy victory. Vivid was frying here, putting up big numbers and ending the map with a great turn on to clutch up and take the map.

Boston Breach closed out the series with a quick and easy 3-0 on El Asilo Control to take the series in a 3-0 sweep. This saw all matches today end in a 3-0 in one of the quickest days of COD all year.
