CDL Major 2 Qualifiers – Week 2 Day 1 Recap

Here’s everything that went down on the first day of the second week of Major 2 qualifiers

The Call of Duty League got back underway this week with the second week of qualifiers for Major 2. With some upsets to kick the weekend off, here’s everything that went down on the first day of week 2 of Major 2 qualifiers.

London Royal Ravens 3-2 Paris Legion

Paris Legion kicked off this match with a 250-247 Berlin Hardpoint win. This was a close match in terms of the score, however, they fought London by a massive 20 kills, meaning the scoreline should’ve never been so close. Paris continued this momentum on map two, winning 6-3 and dominating the Ravens. Yet again, Legion outslayed. This time by 13 kills, taking a 2-0 series lead.

In map three, the Ravens bounced back. Dominating 3-0 on Gavutu Control with Afro going 21/9 putting up a 2.33 K/D. This saw the Ravens begin the reverse sweep, and try to take the series. The Ravens continued their effort of a reverse sweep with a 250-212 Tuscan Hardpoint win. This was an overall even effort from the Ravens, with the whole roster going even overall. The Ravens closed out the reverse sweep with a 6-3 Bocage Search and Destroy victory. Nastie dominated in this map, going 9/4 and easily securing the reverse sweep.

OpTic Texas 3-1 Seattle Surge

Seattle Surge came out hot in this series, with Sib back to his best. In map one, Sib dominated Bocage, putting up a monstrous 47 kills and a 1.68 K/D. This was a great start for Surge, however, they needed to keep it up through the rest of the series. This, unfortunately, didn't happen, with OpTic bouncing back instantly in the Search and Destroy with a 6-3 win. Scump dominated here, dropping 11 kills with a 2.75 K/D, tying the series.

OpTic continued this good form, completely dominating the Control and winning 3-2, while gunning Surge by 10 kills. It was by no means a clearly dominant victory from OpTic Texas, however, they took map four 250-240, and therefore took the series 3-1. Overall, Seattle Surge outslayed OpTic by 30 kills in this series, so they should've won, and will need to work on capitalizing on their slaying.

Boston Breach 3-0 Minnesota ROKKR

Boston Breach has been a team on the outside of the top four since the start of the season, always threatening to become one of the best teams in the league. This game was perfect Call of Duty from the Breach, with an easy 3-0 sweep. Methodz was the big player in this matchup, starting the series with a 25/7 Hardpoint, putting up a 3.57 K/D.

This was followed by an 11 kill Search and Destroy from him, and a 1.36 K/D in the Control. While Methodz was the star of the series, it was an overall great performance from the whole Breach roster that led to this incredible victory.
