London Royal Ravens 3-1 New York Subliners
With Gismo heading back to the UK for personal reasons, PaulEhx returned to the London Royal Ravens for the first time since his tenure during the Cold War season. However, it seemed like he’d never left, going 23/17 in map one as the Ravens extended NYSL’s Hardpoint losing streak to 0-11 with a 250-130 Gavutu win. The Ravens continued to dominate in the Search and Destroy, winning 6-3 and taking a 2-0 series lead.
However, the New York Subliners bounced back. After being 2-0 down in the Control, they woke up and took three straight to get themselves on the board. This shows the veteran ice on the Subliners roster, and gives them a chance in this series. The Ravens dominated the following map, with all players going positive, with all of NYSL going negative. Afro finished the series with a 1.43 Overall K/D, putting up 99 kills for the squad.
Boston Breach 3-1 Seattle Surge
Boston Breach extended Seattle Surge’s winless record on Gavutu Hardpoint with a 250-159 win. Capsidal went double positive with 24 kills to absolutely dominate the Surge, and give Boston a 1-0 series head start. Boston Breach absolutely dominated the Search and Destroy, winning 6-1 and taking a 2-0 series lead. However, Surge responded in the Control clutching up on multiple occasions, with Mack finishing the map on a 1.68 K/D.
The final map came down to the wire, with Surge and Breach going back and forth in the final few Hardpoints on Bocage. Capsidal went big in this map, dropping 54 kills, breaking the COD League kill record and putting up a 1.74 K/D in the map to secure Boston Breach the win.
Florida Mutineers 3-0 Los Angeles Guerrillas
The Florida Mutineers took a 1-0 series lead in a back and forth Bocage Hardpoint. After Florida took an 80 point lead, the Guerrillas fought back and took a 40 point lead of their own. However, Vivid and Owakening’s 34 and 36 kills each were too much for LAG, as the Mutineers took map one.
In map two, Florida went 5-1 as they dominated LAG in these initial rounds. The Guerrillas made a comeback, bringing it to a round 11. Regardless, with two aces and 12 kills from Vivid, Florida clutched up in round 11 and took a commanding 2-0 series lead. The Florida Mutineers completed a 3-0 sweep with a 3-1 Tuscan Control. This was a phenomenal performance from the Mutineers in the Control, with Skyz dominating and earning both streaks to close out the final round.
The Major 2 qualifiers continue tomorrow night, with four exceptional matches once again.
