CDL Bounty Matches are coming back once again after the success of Stage 4, pitting the CDL teams against each other for huge prizes!
The 2nd weekend of Stage 5 of the Call of Duty League is approaching! Fans will get 3 days of high octane Call of Duty action yet again, but this time around, only 4 of the derbies will be played only for standings and CDL Championship points: Los Angeles Guerrillas vs London Royal Ravens, Florida Mutineers vs Boston Breach, Atlanta FaZe vs Las Vegas Legion and Seattle Surge vs OpTic Texas. The other series will be Bounty Matches, which means that there’s some money on the line in addition to the usual prizes teams are competing for.

What are CDL Bounty Matches?
Bounty Matches were reintroduced before the start of the Stage 4 Major of the Call of Duty League after a longer hiatus. These type of showdowns were very popular with fans and players alike, as the winner of a Bounty Match recieves an extra $10,000 alongside with any prizes they take during the Major – and they also receive the CDL Points needed to qualify for the Call of Duty League Championship at the end of this season.
Stage 4 had 6 Bounty matches during the second week, and they were one of the best showdowns of the Qualifiers for Major IV. Boston Breach faced off against London Royal Ravens and won 3-1, as did Seattle Surge when they clashed with Florida Mutineers. New York Subliners also got a 3-1 win against the players of Minnesota RØKKR, which meant that they got some goodies before the Playoffs of the Stage. Las Vegas Legion got it’s second victory of the stage against Los Angeles Guerrillas, and the titans clashed when Atlanta FaZe beat Toronto Ultra, while OpTic Texas managed to get the best of Los Angeles Thieves – but we all know that Kenneth “Kenny” Williams and his teammates had the last laugh.
The CDL Bount Matches of the Stage 5 Qualifier
The twelve franchise teams are facing each other in the arena once again, as they second and third day of week 2 will feature 6 Bounty matches:
- Atlanta FaZe will fight London Royal Ravens at 3PM EST,
- Los Angeles Thieves will play the Florida Mutineers at 4:30PM,
- While New York Subliners and Los Angeles Guerrillas will clash at 7:30PM.
- On Sunday, Las Vegas Legion starts the day against Minnesota RØKKR at 3PM,
- Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas will decide the fate of $10,000 at 4:30PM,
- And Seattle Surge will end the second week of Stage 5 against Boston Breach at 6PM.
Of course, any match with Atlanta FaZe’s name attached to it should be a banger, but Chris “Simp” Lehr and his teammates shouldn’t have much problem against the London Royal Ravens (sorry Ravens).
This puts the showdown between Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas in our sights, which should be a match for the ages. Toronto Ultra took away a Major title from Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe and his squad in the Stage 3 Major: OpTic almost managed to do a miracle run after getting knocked down to the Lower Bracket extremely early on, but the flawless team of Toronto stopped them even after they got to the Grand Finals. They haven’t met since that fateful battle, and both teams finished the first weekend of the Stage 5 Qualifiers with a 2-0 standing, as OpTic beat both LVL and FaZe, while Ultra defeated Los Angeles Thieves and Seattle Surge in a dominant fashion. But who will come out on top in this fight, who will take the $10,000 home?
