Even though all CoD games are fun, no one can deny that some titles are better than others. Since many players are wondering which options stand out, we’ve gone through the Call of Duty ranked process to show you the titles we think are the best. Let’s see the best and worst CoD games so far and learn more about them.

Call of Duty Rankings – From Best to Worst

Although most of the Call of Duty ranks usually start from the worst, we want to be different and start from the best. This means you can learn the name of the top-tier CoD variation and start playing immediately.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Even though a lot of players may disagree, when talking about the Call of Duty rankings, we have to say that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare wins the prize for the best CoD game of all time. Even though the game became available in 2007, it remains one of the best shooters of all time. That’s one of the reasons why so many people still play it.

CoD4: MW follows Captain Price and Soap MacTavish, whose goal is to eliminate valuable targets. Aside from the incredible single player, we think this is the best Call of Duty game because of the multiplayer option. This was among the first titles where individual performance mattered a lot more than before, which changed the way people played.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Following the changes that CoD4: MW introduced to FPS genre, the title’s success Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 raised the bar even more. Released 2 years later, a lot of people agree that all Call of Duty ranked lists should have this title among the top. The new game gave us access to a breathtaking campaign with betrayals and tons of action.

Of course, this was also the CoD game that introduced the progression system, the thing that a lot of people liked. Even though it came out in 2009, this continues to be a popular option for many CoD fans. In fact, they can even play the new remastered version on different consoles.

  • Platforms – PS3, Mac, Xbox 360, PC

Call of Duty: Warzone

Jumping several years ahead after MW2, our Call of Duty rankings article continues with yet another legendary title – Warzone. What’s different about this title is that it is more of a battle royal. 2020 was the time when people were fascinated by the likes of PUBG and other options, so Activision was also interested in getting a piece of the pie.

CoD: Wrazome allowed us to play with 150 players at the time. The game featured interesting options and was the first free-to-play title from the franchise.

  • Platforms – PC, Xbox One, PS4

Call of Duty: Black Ops

The next name when talking about Call of Duty tanks is for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The title became available in 2010. Unsurprisingly, it became incredibly popular at the time because the story was based around the Cold War and various conspiracy theories.

Even though this game did not introduce that many new features and options, it was a good all-around CoD title. Players had the chance to explore unique maps in Vietnam, as well as the Nuketown option. The latter became one of the fan favorites, which explains why we can see it in all of Treyarch’s games.

  • Platforms – PS3, Mac, Wii, PC, Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The next title in this Call of Duty ranked article is another classic that was released in 2019. Despite the questionable decision to use the Modern Warfare name, this CoD game is everything people expected it to be.

It features some of the campaigns found in older CoD titles but with a modern twist to them. Aside from the single-player campaign, the multiplier is also fun because it adds a lot of new mechanics. For example, players could reload while aiming down the sights. There was also a new game movie called Ground War, which means that CoD: MW definitely deserves its spot in the Call of Duty rankings.

  • Platforms – PC, PS4, Xbox One

Call of Duty 2

Despite being one of the oldest titles on the list of the best CoD games, Call of Duty 2 is a classic that deserves more attention. The game is based on World War II and offers an excellent experience to people interested in Nazi Germany. The missions take place in a variety of regions and include Russian, American, and even British soldiers.

Even though the game also had a multiplayer option, it was not as good as the one available in the subsequent CoD Games. Nevertheless, we must remember that CoD 2 became available in 2005, so it was one of the best games of its time.

  • Platforms – Mac, PC, Xbox 360

Call of Duty: WWII

Despite the fact that most of the previous games from the franchise focused on modern combat, in 2019, CoD fans got to see another WWII game. The reason why this title is not higher on our Call of Duty rankings list is because of the fact that the title resembles a lot of CoD 2. Also, the zombie mode was a bit weird, considering the game was about WWII.

  • Platforms – PC, PS4, Xbox One

Call of Duty: World at War

This title deserves to be on the Call of Duty rankings article because it was Treyarch’s first title after the company was involved in CoD3. The game was also popular because it added zombies for the first time in the series. However, some people were not fans of the single-player campaign and everything else around it. That’s the reason why Call of Duty: World at War, which came out in 2008, does not have as many fans as other CoD games.

  • Platforms – PC, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Following the massive success of Call of Duty: Black Ops, people had tons of expectations for this game. Even though some liked it, overall, it is safe to say that this is one of the titles in the Call of Duty rankings article that did not receive as much love as the rest.

The missions, as well as the multiplier, felt a bit weird, and some missions even had specific RTS elements in them. Even though some people liked the different alternatives, others weren’t that happy with the final products.

  •  Platforms – PC, Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

CoD: MW3 is one of those games that most fans of the franchise don’t like. Even though it features an interesting campaign and the multiplier was not that bad, the game just felt a bit weird when compared to the previous versions. That’s one of the reasons why it wasn’t able to make a name for itself and stand out from the other options on our Call of Duty ranking article. It is also worth knowing that the game became available in 2011.

  • Platforms – Will, PS3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II  is one of the latest titles in this franchise, but the bad news is that it is not the best one. The sequel to the 2019 game was supposed to be better, but the reality was that the game did not seem as good to play as others. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why the people behind CoD decided to release MWIII just one year after this one.

  • Platforms – PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One
