New maps have been brought in for Stage 2 of the 2021 CDL Season.
After weeks of discussion, the Call of Duty League has announced the changing of the map pool ahead of Stage 2. A dynamic map pool is something that we rarely see in Call of Duty esports. This is mainly due to DLC maps not being as good as the originals, however, this year sees remakes enter the scene. Heading into Stage 2, the following changes have been made.
Hardpoint: Crossroads OUT, Apocalypse IN
Crossroads has been a map that many professional players have disliked since the beginning of the game. It is extremely small and P4 has been hard to break since the beginning. After already receiving a location change, P4 was moved once again and still did not improve the map. Therefore the new DLC map Apocalypse will be played during Stage 2.
Search and Destroy: Garrison OUT, Express IN
Garrison has been an SnD map despised by many fans since the start of the season. It's very narrow design gives minimal room for imaginative plays and makes SnD very one-dimensional. Therefore, Express comes in for Stage 2. The remade map from Black Ops 2 joins Raid as a remake in the CDL this year, and many fans will be happy to see it back.
Stage 2 of the 2021 Call of Duty League season begins this Thursday with the Toronto Ultra Home Series.
