Call of Duty League Playoffs – Day 3 Recap

Day 3 of the Call of Duty League saw one of the biggest issues of them all, but the games were still good. So here's a recap of all the action from last night.

Chicago Huntsmen 3-2 New York Subliners

Before the match yesterday you may have seen some people on twitter saying something like “I’ve got a good feeling New York win map 1 and Chicago win map 2”. Well, that's because the scores were leaked before the game had even started on the stream. The Call of Duty League website gives each match a specific code, if you go to a matches webpage you can see the maps for the series and eventually the final scores. Many fans use this to see the maps for the series as sometimes the CDL stream wont show them before the match starts.

Due to the booting issues, it seems that all games are now being played ahead of being shown on the stream, it seems by around 30 minutes to an hour beforehand. The CDL continued to update the score on the website, so before map 1 even started, we knew the results of map 1 and 2. This caused a lot of issues, especially in the Call of Duty betting scene as many fans tried to make some quick cash.

New York took map 1 250-167 and Chicago took map 2 6-5. The CDL took down the webpages and we were back to normal. Map 3 was very close finishing 149-145 in favour of the Huntsmen, while New York returned the favour in map 4 by winning 250-231 and sent us to a game five. In game five it was the king Seth “Scump” Abner who took control and went 12-3 as Chicago won 6-2 and took the series 3-2. This was an exceptional series from Scump and it sees them go on to play Atlanta FaZe tonight.

Notable Stats

  • Most Kills: Scump & Mack – 95
  • Highest K/D: Scump – 1.28
  • Most 1vX Wins: Prestinni, Mack & ZooMaa – 1
  • Highest Avg Hill Time: Mack – 89.5s

Toronto Ultra 3-1 Florida Mutineers

In a shock result for some fans, Toronto Ultra took down the 3 time Home Series winners Florida Mutineers to gain their place in winners round three. Map 1 went in favour of the Ultra 250-232, however the game shouldn't have been this close. At one point in the map Toronto had over a 100 point lead and Florida did an incredible job to come back, however it wasn't enough.

Florida tied the series 1-1 after winning the Search and Destroy 6-4. Colt “Havok” McLendon showed up here with a 2.00 K/D as he went 12-6 in this match. However, Florida’s success was short-lived as Toronto took back control in map 3 161-156. This was an incredibly close match and it required some extremely good plays from Toronto to close it out.

Finally, Toronto took map 4 250-249 in one of the best Hardpoint matches we’ve seen all season. This was absolutely incredible and is not a match that you want to have missed. If you missed it, take a look at the last minute of the match below.

Toronto Ultra advanced to play the Dallas Empire tonight, and the Florida Mutineers are sent down to Losers Round 4.

Notable Stats

  • Most Kills: CleanX – 94
  • Highest K/D: CleanX – 1.24
  • Most 1vX Wins: Bance – 1
  • Highest Avg Hill Time: Fero – 102.5s

Tonight we see 4 matches and the stream will start 2 hours earlier at 1PM EST. We see the London Royal Ravens take on the Paris Legion in the losers bracket along with OpTic Gaming battling the Minnesota Rokkr. Then in the Winners Bracket we see the Chicago Huntsmen rematch against Atlanta FaZe and Dallas Empire take on underdogs Toronto Ultra.
