Call of Duty League Playoffs – Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of the CDL Playoffs has concluded and yet again it wasn't without controversy. Let's take a look back at all the action.

Toronto Ultra 3-1 London Royal Ravens

Toronto Ultra started off extremely strong with a 250-158 Gun Runner Hardpoint. This was a shock as Gun Runner is one of London’s best maps this year; so this was already a very bad start for the Ravens. Tobias “CleanX” Jønsson started his series strong going 33-26 in the first map putting up a 1.27 K/D.

This wasn't a problem for London though as they bounced back with a quick 6-2 Search and Destroy. Here it was Trei “Zer0” Morris who really stepped up for the Royal Ravens going 10-5 as he single handedly won London rounds during this game. The Domination was back to usual for London as they suffered a hefty 178-134 defeat.

Toronto lead the series 2-1 going into map 4, however London were starting on good side Hackney Yard so there was an excellent chance for them to get back into this series. Toronto pulled off an incredible flip within the first 20 seconds of the match forcing London out of this good side spawn, although it wasn't a horrible scenario due to their 45 points gained from p1. London held on and while the game was tied around 200 each, Zer0 lagged out of the game. Yet again, Zer0 has claimed that this is a result of him being booted offline, you can see his clip showing the disconnect here.

Toronto went on to win map 4 playing with a man advantage and advance to winners round two while sending London into the losers bracket.

Notable Stats

  • Most Kills: Zer0 & Cammy – 81
  • Highest K/D: Zer0 – 1.27
  • Most 1vX Wins: Wuskin – 1
  • Highest Avg Hill Time: Bance – 88s

New York Subliners 3-1 Minnesota Rokkr

New York Subliners started off with a very close 250-228 Rammaza Hardpoint. This was an extremely weird match as there were many strong holds. The teams were trading 50 points hills before the Subliners broke in which led to them winning the map. This was looking like a very close series before the Minnesota Rokkr won the Search and Destroy very convincingly with a 6-1 result. Adam “Assault” Garcia went 10-2 putting up a 5.00 K/D while newcomer Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale put up an 8.00 K/D after going 8-1. This was an extraordinary statline for both players and the Rokkr absolutely dominated the SnD.

There was some speculation going into the Domination as the New York Subliner had never played St. Petro Domination at all the whole season, however this did not matter as they took the map 170-130 in a very dominant performance. Two massive 1.63 and 1.57 K/D’s from Tommy “ZooMaa” Paparatto and Dillon “Attach” Price respectively saw the Subliners go 2-1 up in the series and on match point.

Going into Hackney Yard, New York had the advantage starting on the good side, however Minnesota Rokkr put up over 50 points on p1 meaning that the p2 hold only tied the game. This led to an extremely close match and it was won 250-248 after some heroic plays from Attach during the final seconds. This match sees New York progress into Winners Round Two and Minnesota Rokkr are knocked down to the Losers Bracket.

Notable Stats

  • Most Kills: ZooMaa – 83
  • Highest K/D: Accuracy – 1.17
  • Most 1vX Wins: N/A
  • Highest Avg Hill Time: Mack – 94.5s

The Call of Duty League Playoffs continue tonight when the Chicago Huntsmen take on the New York Subliners. While the Florida Mutineers will battle the Toronto Ultra in round two of the Winners Bracket.
