During the Multiplayer reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War it was revealed that it is set to be integrated with Warzone.
Many fans have been eager to know if their Warzone operator packs and item store purchases will be available to use in Black Ops Cold War. Well, today it was announced that you will be able to use items from Warzone. However, let's start with the cross-play and cross-progression that was announced.
Cross-Play, Cross-Progression & Cross-Generation
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will allow players on Xbox, Playstation and PC both old and new-gen to experience the game. Activision said that in one BOCW Multiplayer party, you could have an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4 & 5 and PC player all playing together. This is a first for the franchise. Its is something that will bring gamers together and take cross-play to the next level with cross-generation.
Along with the cross-play and cross-generation gameplay, players' profile, progression and statistics will all be tied to their Activision account. This allows them to move from old to new-gen, or platform to platform without losing their progress or identity.
Integration with Warzone
Warzone will be the main Call of Duty Battle Royale for the foreseeable future. As a result, Warzone will continue to evolve. Some of the Black Ops Cold War “themes, weapons and operators will be interweaved into the free-to-play BR experience.”
Both games will share post-launch seasonal content through the return of the Battle Pass and the Store. They will also share a progression system. While we are not sure what this specifically means, Treyarch said that at launch “Black Ops Cold War is set to include a brand-new leveling journey that will later connect to Warzone, allowing players to unlock new functional content to be used in both titles.”
On top of the new content, Warzone players will still have access to previously earned content. This includes weapons, operators, blueprints, equipment, cosmetics and more. However, previously earned Modern Warfare content will only be available to use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.
